Craig in UK arts show on Bond
Daniel "Interesting" Craig features long with Connery in a South Bank Special on James Bond.
http://musicnews.virginmedia.com/news/?news_id=81395
The Streets, Ronnie Corbett and James Bond are part of the diverse autumn line-up for The South Bank Show.
The ITV1 arts show returns on Sunday September 21 with a film on Mike Skinner's band, who programme makers describe as "a truly original voice, whose music marks the soundtrack of today's urban youth".
This will be followed in October with The One Ronnie, a portrait of one of the country's best loved comedians.
It features specially written new material, and explores Ronnie's passions for golf, cookery and fine tailoring; as well as a critique of contemporary comedy.
Another programme follows a year in the life of film-maker and photographer Sam Taylor-Wood, with exclusive access to her life and work as she makes her first short film (which premiered at Cannes), attends the opening of her first major retrospective in the US and prepares for an exhibition of new work at White Cube.
And Bond fans will be delighted by a definitive profile of one of the most enduring icons of popular culture. Melvyn Bragg interviews Daniel Craig on what it means to be Bond, and Sean Connery the first and most iconic Bond.
The show also looks at the creative and artistic aspects particular to the Bond brand and discovers why the Bond films have always been a major cultural event.

Wonder if See-Saw (the video on demand service from the BBC, ITV and Channels 4 and 5) will have launched by then, so that those of us not resident in the UK can buy this show for download?

Melvyn Bragg interviews Daniel Craig on what it means to be Bond[/b]
Q:"What does it mean to be Bond"?
A: unintelligible mumbles
Q:"Pleases sit up straight and don't mumble your answer".
A:"So, your... ummm... What the f**k was the question again"?
Q:[exasperated]"What does it mean to be Bond"?
A:[blank star] [dull blinking cow like eyes]
Q:[Slowly & carefully enunciated]"What does it mean to be Bond"?
A:"I don't understand. Have you seen my movies? If you had you would already know if you knew anything at all that my movies have nothing to do with Bond".
Q:[Shocked] "How so"?
A:[angry]"Watch it you git or I’ll knock yer socks off! So stop trying to be f**king funny"!
Q:"what"?
A:"f**king retard! My take on Bond is he is not Bond. So why ya asking me questions! Get an explanation from one of those other blokes"!
Q:"the other blokes who played Bond"?
A:"yes. [mumbles] christ you're thick"!
Q:"Why them? Why can't I ask you"?
A:"obviously, since I based my character on the Jason Bourne Identity, it's not Bond anymore is it! besides it's not really about Bond, it's about me. Ask Barbara".
Q:[dumbfounded silence]
A:"besides I'm not even remotely qualified for the job".

Nah, Craig may play Bond as a thug, but he actually comes across as a bit of a luvvie in interviews. I'm sure he'll be in his element swapping luvviedotes with Belvyd, gushing about dear, dear Piercey and trying to project the image of EON as one big happy family.Mazer Rackham wrote:Mel will be waiting a long while on that answer

Which is what they should have done in 2005, but noooo they had to start a pissing match with the people who had been life long devotees to the series.Kristatos wrote:Nah, Craig may play Bond as a thug, but he actually comes across as a bit of a luvvie in interviews. I doubt Craig will have much to say beyond himself and how he changed things.

I think The Sweeney drinks a lot of Crazy Milk, judging by his posts.

Hardy har har.
Simple fact if different tact was embraced in 2005 a lot hard feelings wouldn't exist today.
Instead we got the unholy yesbot trio proudly tearing down the Bond legacy. Emboldened and empowered by the short sighted matriarch and anointed studio they go out blissfully causing descent. Be like Bourne ~resistance is futile !
Daniel Craig may leave a big hole in your life, without him much of your current identity wouldn't be.
Truthfully i don't expect much from craig in the interview beyond talking about himself, he failed to make such inroads earlier when it could have helped him and I doubt i will dawn on him to do it now.
I also don't expect much from Connery except maybe to request a drink refill mistaking the reporter for hired help.
Here have one me.

If CR and Craig had not been such a massive success, you may have had a point.Mazer Rackham wrote:Hardy har har.

Mazers: I'm not sure if your Crazy Milk is the same Crazy Milk milkshake that we have in the UK. Maybe someone can answer this.
I agree with Mazor's theory that Craig/Eon and his fans attacked the Cubby Bond series, the other Bonds, and any fans who did not like the new direction. Some of the things Martin Campbell said were a disgrace. Maybe this was a reaction to the complaints about Craig. Many people felt they had to support him, so they attacked all the other Bonds, actors connected with the role of Bond, and set up mawkish support message boards on CommanderBond. Maybe they were just fed up with Cubby's Bond, and welcomed the radical changes.
Sites such as CommanderBond and Mi6 support the new direction and are dismissive of anyone who complains about the discarding of Cubby's Bond. Good luck to them and their small rump of "Craig fans who hate most of the Bond series", but I think I'll stick to this site.

I disagree with that theory, since I think Connery and Dalton are superior to Craig... for now.
