Seriously you want to believe it will get fewer negative reviews than Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Looper, Argo? Then again I can't believe how many were willing to give qos a pass so maybe you'll be right but man I doubt it.
Not too hard to believe when you consider who is directing this, and the solid cast on board. The weakest link is usually the scriptwriters, but it sounds this time round this is fairly decent too.
Everyone here hates Craig as Bond, but he is obviously doing something right in Skyfall, as critics cannot praise him enough for his role as 007 this time round.
While members predominantly don't like Craig and Bond, don't say everybody. In my case, it's one of the few Bond message boards I've encountered where you can discuss Eon honestly without being called an idiot, a heretic, etc. Obviously, the number of folks critical of Craig as Bond helps. In my own case, I'm not upset as much about Craig as about some aspects of Eon.
I do think that Eon has been chasing prestige and "respect." I think that has affected some decisions that haven't worked out: hiring Forster for Quantum and, initially, Peter Morgan for what would become Skyfall. Forster boasted about sneaking his political views past Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli in an interview with New York magazine as Quantum was coming out. Yet, they still asked him back for Bond 23 around the release of Quantum. Stop and think about that for a moment: somebody has made you look less than astute in a very public way and they still wanted him back.

Key quote: “It’s like I worked under this political regime with extreme censorship,” Forster plainly admits, describing his arrangement with Bond’s producers, the infamously controlling Broccoli family. “I had to subversively inject my ideas to make the movie my own."
Morgan, in a 2010 interview after his involvement with Skyfall concluded, talked about he didn't feel Bond was relevant anymore. Then why take the job? (Aside from a nice paycheck, of course).
The interview was on YouTube but appears to have been yanked. Among the quotes: He said Bond was dated and and not sure it’s possible to do it … I do think the absence of social reality in the Bond film…if they fix that, or they get that of if they get that in a script, which I’m so hoping they will, where you can actually believe in him, that he isn’t just a person in a dinner jacket…he is a creature of the Cold War, Bond….I just personally struggle to believe a British secret agent is still saving the world.”
Now, you can make the case that "respect" chasing worked for Casino and appears to have worked for Skyfall (I say appears because I haven't seen it and can't make a real judgment yet, aside from noting the unusual number of positive reviews). And, for better or worse, you can't expect MGW and BB to make decisions exactly the way their stepfather/father did. They are different people with different perspective. But there aren't many message boards
where you can even bring up the subject without being subject to all sorts of personal attacks. While most folks here don't like Craig, you can still keep the exchanges light without it becoming nasty.
Plus, this site has all sorts of neat emoticons.
UPDATE: Well, the Morgan interview was still on YouTube but wasn't working for me.
