Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
Re: Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
Can't remember what the first VHS I bought was....I do remember going to a local precursor of Blockbuster(this would have been maybe '84, 85?)

I remember our first VCR being crazy expensive. We didn't watch many movies on it.I taped stuff off of MTV more than we watched movies on it.

Same here. We got the VCR to tape TV. Renting videos was still expensive and buying them was damned expensive.
We didn't start renting or buying regularly til the 90s. My parents still have that first VHS Disney movie they bought us.
I haven't used a VCR in years not since we got tivo.

How about the BetaMax?

Ah yes...the Betamax vs. VHS wars...VHS won that one handily

Re: Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
Yes. a BetaMax tape couldn't outlast a standard.katied wrote:Ah yes...the Betamax vs. VHS wars...VHS won that one handily

I remember when the VHS first came out. Friends who can afford them was always boasting about their entertainment experience, knowing that I was still using Betamax. Well...
And the obsolete laserdisc format. I'm just glad I never bought it. Never thought of even owning one. Just imagine buying / renting numerous 12" sized laserdisc with only 30 or 60 minutes of play on both sides... what if those are the sizes of the DVD's, HD's, CD-Rs, DVD-Rs that we are using nowadays?

I thought Betamax was supposed to be superior to VHS technologically, but VHS won out because it was cheaper. By the time we got a VCR, VHS had all but won the format wars (we were late adopters in our family - I don't come from a wealthy background).X3C wrote:I remember when the VHS first came out. There's a record store near here that has a small selection of used laserdiscs-apparently there is a small handful of people that love the format even though they improved on it with DVD's(and made them a LOT smaller to boot.)And the obsolete laserdisc format. There could be something to this. Disney pulled out of Narnia.oscartheman wrote:Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
The actor said that another Bond film had not been scheduled. He said: "As far as the next film's concerned, there is nothing scheduled," he says. "Economically the world is in quite a lot of trouble so who knows if we can afford to do another Bond movie anytime soon?"

Are the blockbusters being shelved in favour of lower budget films, or are the studios keeping the blockbusters but making less medium to lower budget films?
Bring back Bond!
Re: Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
Hmm a low budget Bond film.. not enough money to use CGI..now there's a challenge

It has been a while since we heard anything solid about a new James Bond installment. We know that MGM has been having some issues and Daniel Craig has stated several times that he doesn't mind being replace. So what's really going on?
After their performances in the Broadway play "A Stead Rain," both Craig and Hugh Jackman were outside signing autographs and posing for photos with fans. That's when a woman in the crowd asked Craig when a new James Bond film will be released.
"We start at the end of next year," he replied. Watch the video below to see whole thing for yourself. His answer is at the 55 second mark.
This will be the third James Bond film starring Craig. The first was "Casino Royale," which earned $594 million; the second was "Quantum of Solace," which took in $586 million.

I haven't seen anything about Craig not minding being replaced.
Does anyone have anything else on that?

Looks like a cut'n'past job to me. I don't know if that was their contribution to the narrative or what.

Since then he has been quick to recommended other actors to the role. Sometimes flippantly. From his actions it is clear to see he in not attached to the role and easy to infer he wouldn't mind the boot. Unless he said something else about leaving recently...

Its all speculation. Craig probably still will be Bond for the next one....but I can't believe filming won't even start until the end of 2010.
The rate this is going, I can't see Craig doing a 4th one. Why are EON taking so long on this?

Re: Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film
Riddle me this... They also have three movies to make before Bond 23, (Bang Bang, Spy movie, and the play they are making now). I doubt they'll be done in 2010. Besides God only knows if MGM will be solvent next May.The Sweeney wrote:Its all speculation. Maybe this is what Babs wants to do rather than making Bond movies, which she was never a great fan of. If her brother were to leave as it is rumored he would like to, all bets are off.

Babs and Mikey have too many things going on at once. I wouldn't be surprised if it affects Bond 23.
