Craig fears credit crunch may stop another James Bond film

The actor said that another Bond film had not been scheduled. He said: "As far as the next film's concerned, there is nothing scheduled," he says. "Economically the world is in quite a lot of trouble so who knows if we can afford to do another Bond movie anytime soon?"

"I'm quite superstitious and I don't take anything for granted. I'd love to do another one though, love to," he added.

The 40-year-old actor has a four-film contract as 007 to fulfil in a contract that could earn him £30 million in the next five years.

However, the actor denied that he was motivated financially.

"I have all I need," he said "Materialistically, I'm in good shape. I genuinely don't need anything."

Craig, who has reinvented James Bond as a cold, calculating assassin, admitted that like his 007 alter ego, said he too could kill for love.

"I would kill for my family, it's as simple as that. And my friends are the most important thing to me, " he told the Mirror.

Quantum of Solace, out next week, follows the Bond seeking revenge after the death of his girlfriend.

With the amount of money Sony and EON will rake in from this, I doubt the credit crunch will affect BO takings, or stop them making another film.

It's one of the beauties of the franchise to have the big financial backing of a global corporate company like Sony behind them.

That probably won't stop him spouting double entendres and driving an invisible car with lasers in Eons change from the unpopular taciturn Bond in 2013.........

Quark was supposed to be Sony's last Bond. With MGM's money troubles their might be problems, unless Sony buys them out again. Sony is not doing that great either the market downturn and the exorbitant cost of PS3 development and promoting Blu-ray have taken a hefty toll.

If Sony do pull out, it will be interesting to see who steps in.

I'm also now very interested to know how well QOS will do at the BO, now that the very mixed bag of reviews have started flooding in. Will the negative ones have an affect on the BO?

MGM was supposed to be done with Sony after this.
MGM has never been managed very well and were recently looking for capital for future ventures.
If quark does mediocre BO, remember this is 230m production (330m to 400m film after promotional and other considerations) soft BO with hard times ahead may make it more difficult to get the next one greenlit . If it does TMWGG LTK numbers a quick turn around will be out of the question.

MGM does more Distribution than they used to but they have a good movie very bluemoon.

On the table for future development are a few titles that make me ask why bother.

Robocop -remake
Bill and Ted 3
Red Dawn -remake
Poltergeist -remake
The Pink Panther 2
Killer Klowns From Outer Space 2
Death Wish -remake

Last I heard, it's Stallone that would be the lead in a remake of "Death Wish."
But if Stallone makes another Rambo, which is being rumored, then maybe they'd go with someone else as the lead in "Death Wish?"

Daniel Craig Returning as James Bond in 4 More Films!
October 27, 2007
Source: Hollywood Reporter
by Alex Billington

We already know Daniel Craig will be returning as James Bond in the 22nd film that's currently shooting and due out next November, but that's not his last one. MGM president Harry Sloan has confirmed that they're bringing back Daniel Craig for four more James Bond films, making him the star in at least five total. How does he shape up to the other Bond actors over the years?

So far I'm quite impressed with Craig as Bond, but he still doesn't beat Roger Moore or even Sean Connery. He has a very new and different style that's much more rugged and much more muscular. Here are all the other films each Bond actors has done.

Sean Connery - 6
Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever

George Lazenby - 1
On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Roger Moore - 7
Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill

Timothy Dalton - 2
The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill

Pierce Brosnan - 4
GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day

Daniel Craig - 5+
Casino Royale, Bond 22 - 25

This definitely looks positive and I'm glad to see the Bond franchise continue to grow with Craig in the lead. I know he'll bring us some great Bonds films, especially considering Casino Royale was one of the most successful Bond films ever. Craig is really building quite a career for himself starring in a number of other non-Bond movies as well, including the upcoming Golden Compass. This is quite impressive considering Roger Moore couldn't carry another major film role while he was doing his Bond's and never went on to anything else afterward. Craig also has likely starring roles in upcoming Fame, Death Wish and Thomas Crown Affair franchise films.
Here is an old article I found which links Craig to Death Wish. I don't think he is associated with it now. He has not got much else planned in the next few years apart from completely ruining several Bond films.

The article also says he has a starring role in the "Thomas Crown Affair", which must be an error.
Bring back Bond!
