The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

bjmdds wrote:The Hollywood liberals are now eating their own Image ----On Oct. 25, Ellen DeGeneres posted an image of her and her wife Portia de Rossi with the singer Katy Perry. In the snap, Ellen jokingly appears mesmerized by Katy's breasts. "Happy birthday, @KatyPerry! It's time to bring out the big balloons!," the daytime host wrote. While most agreed that the tweet was sent in jest, most also agreed that if a man sent that out, it would not be a laughing matter. Many Twitter users started using the hashtag "Ellen Weinstein." Several came to Ellen's defense, indicating that she and Katy are friends, and it's nothing more than good-natured play on words. Piers Morgan, never one to mince words, said that if a man tweeted something similar he would be called "a SEXIST PIG!" Ellen has been a loud critic of sexual harassment and even gave a speech about the issue in light of the latest scandal. Image
I don’t think it was harmful, maybe not a smart choice given the current atmosphere. It is hypocritical, don’t objectify women unless your Ellen. It is getting dangerous where you can’t make a joke. Mel Brooks couldn’t get started in this Hollywood the trigger warnings and snowflakes bs would kill his movie before they began.

One year ago Ellen would be safe with this joke because she is gay, mock outrage and virtue signaling are the coin of the realm today. Funny or not doesn’t matter.

Hollywood so far is trying hard to ignore Cory Feldman and other child stars who were abused, if they sacrifice Weinstein and a few others they think it will be ok and we’ll continue ignoring Polanski and woody Allen.

This is nuts now with what is coming to light since 'Harvey' was exposed--------A third woman said Thursday that she too was groped by former President George H.W. Bush during a photo op in 2014. Christina Baker Kline described the incident in a Slate op-ed, saying it took place at a Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy fundraiser. "You wanna know my favorite book?" Kline recalled Bush telling her as she leaned closer to him for the photo, with she and her husband standing on either side of Bush's wheelchair. "President Bush put his arm around me, low on my back. His comic timing was impeccable. 'David Cop-a-feel,'  he said, and squeezed my butt, hard, just as the photographer snapped the photo. Instinctively, I swiped his hand away," Kline wrote.--------------------I never would have expected this from him of all people, but look at how demented these people really are :!: Can you imagine what went on between Cr-egg and Broccoli? :hair:

Wow, Bush 41 never gave off that creepy sexual predator vibe. Just goes to show, you never can tell.

I think it’s more old man losing his mind. He probably should have quit public appearances years ago

TOMATOMETER: Thor Ragnarok:
95%
Average Rating: 7.7/10
Reviews Counted: 104
Fresh: 99
Rotten: 5 Image KAREN D'SOUZA :The god of Thunder finally gets his shtick together in the wonderfully witty “Thor: Ragnarok.”

If you never thought you’d see the word wit slumming in the same sentence as part of the Marvel franchise, take heart. Director Taika Waititi has given the often flagging superhero oeuvre a much needed sense of humor while never descending into the realm of irreverent drivel.

Not since the glory days of “Buffy” has a badass action hero made us laugh this hard while still being utterly true to their origin story. From the epic Hulk vs Thor smack down to the Cate Blanchett’s slithery vamping as the villain Hela, “Thor” brings equal parts thunder and hilarity. After years of mostly mediocre additions to the Comic Con canon, this “Thor” is a lovable lunkhead of a Norse god with a small hammer and a big funny bone. Best of all, Waititi knows how to honor and uphold the mythology even as he mocks it.

to follow this up a little I meant old man who doesn’t know he’s in the real world and acts inappropriately. But talking with a friend she said there were always rumors about Bush 41 and mistresses. So maybe I’m way off and he was finally caught,

He doesn't really seem the type. But then, neither does Woody Allen if all you knew of him was his film performances.

I’ve always thought of woody Allen as a big perv who hooked up with his adopted daughter. But then his movies weren’t a big influence on me and I knew more of the infamous stories about him.

Just a thought about the Box office this month, maybe the horror movies are doing well because they aren’t political in nature meant with entertaining the audience in mind.
My theory is people just want to enjoy a few hours of something without somebody preaching to them.

Apparently, Christoph Waltz won't reprise his role as Blofeld in the next film.

Horror films are doing well at the moment because it's Halloween. That doesn't explain the success of It, though, as that was released a couple of months ago.

Continuing a Bond tradition. Having Blofeld played by the same actor twice is blasphemy (Anthony Dawson excepted).

Seriously, though, I hope this means that they're not going down the predictable "Blofeld kills Madeline Swann and Bond goes rouge (sic) looking for revenge" route. The fact that so many people seem to be expecting this is precisely why they shouldn't do it.

A former Republican candidate for Maine's state Senate accused former President George H.W. Bush of groping her on Friday, becoming the fourth woman   to come forward to accuse the former president of sexual harassment. Amanda Staples visited the former president at his family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, during her campaign in 2006. Staples said Bush grabbed her from behind during a photo op, and said, "Oh I'm not THAT President."

Agreed. While it was rather unexpected due to "tight continuity" that's being forced down the throat of the Craig era, I think it's more to do with Waltz clashing with Sam Mendes and the Eon people than the "traditional casting" (Waltz cited the same quotation).

I don't want that OHMSS/YOLT melodrama at all. I'd rather they kept it original and got rid of the "personal drama" balderdash. However, with Craig wanting to "go out on a high note", I'm guessing the next film will be drama-heavy, replicating the template of last year's Logan as films have been doing these days. The sooner we're done with this approach, the better.

Reading the Dynamite-published Bond comics since 2015, my hope in Bond has been renewed. Those who love cinematic Bond adventures, I heavily recommend Hammerhead (that feels coming straight out of the Brosnan era only set in the 2010s) by Andy Diggle and Luca Casalanguida.

Up next: Dench's M will turn out to be Craig's mother.
If it would happen I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Neither would I. Or they'll make Irma Bunt the daughter of Blofeld, who'll set out on revenge against Uncle James.

She wasn't his adopted daughter, she was Mia Farrow's adopted daughter, from after they'd split up. But it was clear that he had been grooming her from a young age, so still pretty creepy.

I just got back from the Saturday night Chiller Theatre convention party. Slim pickens tonight with a lot of people mingling but we only saw 3 so-called celebrities. Mason Reese was coming out of their Ruth Chris Steakhouse with Geri Reischl, the fake Jan Brady, who he is dating for a year. He walked by us with a cane, said hello, and just kept going. She did not look at us. ImageThe other was Alison Arngrim, Nellie Olsen from Little House On The Prairie, who sat with people at the bar area. Other than that, the 'celebrities' were locked in their rooms all night and did not mingle with the masses. Image
