Does Bond know that that the drywall is only a drywall? ie, does he know if anything -- studs -- are behind it?
"Does it look like I give a d**n?"
With this response what do you think about them getting rid of the shaken not stirred quote?
Okay, so you're a secret agent assigned to stop a man from winning over a hundred million dollars because he'll fund it to terrorism, not to mention that the money your government has put up to have you play in the game could be a part of that amount. You loose the game and you're frozen in frustration and regret. So do you really think you'd give a d**n whether your martini is shaken or stirred after going through that?
There has never been a rule set in stone that Bond MUST always have it shaken, not stirred, no matter what the circumstances. The line has been bended before even 40 years ago in You Only Live Twice, when Bond is given a martini and Henderson says "That's stirred, not shaken, was I correct?" and Bond replies "Perfect" just to be polite since he's trying to get information that could help him prevent World War III from happening. No time to have the man get up and get it right for Bond because it's not even that important.
So I never got the complaint on that one either. Bond does give a d**n if it is shaken or stirred, but at times he's so frustrated and angry he won't really care about it because there's just too much going on his mind. That's a human trait. Bond is human, is he?
Bond certainly was human in the novels, and some of the movies too.
Unfortunately, there is also another Bond that exists too. A Bond that nods and winks to the audience, a Bond that could be percieved as smarmy, a Bond that shows little emotion, other than a one-line quip after a life-threatening moment, a Bond whose hair is never out of place, regardless of the situation, a Bond that is smug, a Bond that wears suits regardless of the occasion, a Bond that relies on ridiculously appropiate OTT gadgets to get himself out of a situation, a Bond that doesn't get dirty and doesn't bleed.
Basically a Bond that isn't human. Fortunately EON have finally realised this, it was addressed swiftly in CR, audiences embraced it with open arms, and hopefully the trend will continue in Bond 22.
