Daniel Craig was tipped as #3 on Esquire's list of Best Dressed Men in the World, 2007.

The ladies and gents at Esquire noted Craig's "Polished, classically tailored suits (on duty) and fitted T-shirts and trouser (off duty). What can we take away from the new Bond? Well, your clothes should hug your body a little, baggy clothers are for kids."

In last year's poll, Daniel Craig was voted the #1 best dressed.

Nice one, Daniel! Even when he is not Bond for a year, he still manages to do well.

Daniel Craig Apparently World’s Best Dressed Man

Esquire magazine has just named Daniel Craig as the world's best dressed man, which is funny since we always thought that Daniel Craig was a funny looking scouser in violently nondescript clothing.

That's where we'd be wrong, though. You see, Daniel Craig is James Bond now, and James Bond only wears a succession of lovely hand-stitched bespoke suits all the time. So that's why Esquire magazine has named Daniel Craig as the best dressed man in the world, because a character he plays in a film that isn't even out yet wears some nice clothes. So it looks like fictional characters care now fair game for the Best Dressed awards, in which case we'd like to nominate Mr Benn next year for the episode where he dressed up as a natty f**king pirate.

All these Best Dressed awards are getting silly now. We can sort of see why best dressed awards exist in women's magazines - even if Kate Moss does win them all the sodding time - since the majority of women's magazine have that good cop/bad cop thing going on where they'll destroy a woman's confidence one minute and then tell them how much better they'd feel if they dressed up like Keira Knightley more often the next. But when men tell other men to dress up like some famous men, that's where things fall down. It's a sad state of affairs when Rio Ferdinand dictates what blokes wear.

Esquire magazine, though, doesn't care what we think; it'll be publishing its annual Best Dressed Man awards next week, and Daniel Craig - the toothless new James Bond who people are paid to say they like - has been named as Esquire's Best Dressed Man. Except he hasn't - James Bond has probably been named as Esquire's Best Dressed Man but, since he doesn't actually exist, Daniel Craig got the nod instead. Either that or they're basing the results on the clothes Daniel Craig wore in Munich, which were admittedly pretty spiffy even though - again - they weren't actually his own clothes.

We assume that Esquire plumped for James Bond over Daniel Craig, anyway - we can't find a quote about him by anyone that works for Esquire. Which can't be said for R&B crooner John Legend, who came second. According to Esquire:

"He dresses exactly like he sounds: smooth."

See? There's a John Legend quote, and he only came in second. Where's Daniel Craig's "He dresses exactly like he sounds: like a scouser trying to do a posh accent," quote, that's what we want to know. Just in case you're interested, after Daniel Craig and John Legend, Esquire's best dressed men are Terrence Howard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Nick Cave. And baby Sean Preston Federline was voted the third worst-dressed man. Seriously
.
Bring back Bond!
