In the book of "Thunderball" Emilio Largo is described as a cool guy, a charming guy... not an half-age one-eyed guy!
I'm Italian and after years I wake up with this idea: Aldolfo Celi wasn't the first choice for Largo. I think that the guy form Eon WOULD have chosen... Vittorio Gassman, that WAS a cool guy...
I think that maybe Gassman sayed no and then suggest to pick up his friend Adolfo Celi...
What dou you think? And you retain Adolfo Celi a good choice for Emilio Largo?

I thought Celi was a very cool Largo. He was probably younger in the novel, but he fits in with the Fleming (and the films) idea of the villain being more than your average thug. One of the few Bond villais that looked good in a white dinner jacket. He would have made a good Marc-Ange Draco, too.
Wasn't Celi's voice dubbed? It adds to the fun factor.
