The third Bond film, and for some fans the best.
What are your thoughts on this classic Bond film?

Classic film and the first real Bond blockbuster. It also had a significantly larger budget than it's two predecessors.
The film is very spectacular with lots of gadgets, action and impressive sets. Once again a brilliant cast and the characters are colourful!
To me it doesn't quite live up to it's reputation though. Director Guy Hamilton's approach is too tounge-in-cheek and there are some bits in the film that simply don't work. One misses the more hard edged and atmospheric style of Terence Young.
GF is really fast paced but some scenes nevertheless tend to drag a little, for example the golf game. The american locations are not so Bondian and look a little dated today.
The best parts of the film in my opinion are the pre-credit sequence, and the scenes at the Swiss factory with the Aston Martin and the laser beam!
A somewhat overrated film, but a milestone in the development of the Bond series!

this is my favorite Bond film. for a number of reasons. first, Pussy Galore was a bit more interesting of a Bond girl, compared to her predecessors. she was bit more of a match for Bond.
second, this one has arguably the best Bond theme. (although Sir Paul's LALD could possibly be my favorite.)
third, at this point Connery was at his prime.
fourth, Gert Frobe is a great villian as Goldfinger. despite the fact that he was dubbed, he was very convincing in the part.
fifth, Jill Masterson looks really hot, painted gold.
sixth, the first appearance of the Aston Martin. seriously, does Bond look as cool driving a Lotus, or even worse a BMW?
seventh, despite the fact that Guy Hamilton is not as good as Terrance Young, he made a more exciting film with large doses of action and the right amount of humor.
for me this is the standard to which I compare all Bond films. FRWL, and OHMSS are the only other films that come close for me.
