Actress Diana Rigg, the famous TV star, movie star, and theatrical sensation, turned 72 on July 20th. It's been almost 50 years, but most of us still remember her as the sexy, leather-clad secret agent Emma Peel in the 1960s series "The Avengers" and the fierce Countess Teresa di Vicenzo in the 1969 James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."Although many considered Mrs. Peel a once-in-a-lifetime character, Diana Rigg successfully continued her career through middle age and beyond. According to Salon.com Rigg is fascinating because she was able to excel in the arenas of high art, pop culture, and Greek stage. She truly was a multi-faceted actress with a very passionate, but elegant demeanor. In the decades following her Emma Peel days, Rigg became a dame of the British Empire, a Tony winner for "Medea" in 1994, and and Emmy winner for her role as Mrs. Danver in a 1997 "Masterpiece Theatre" version of "Rebecca." She also took over as host of "Mystery" on PBS in 1989 and starred in the television series "Mrs. Bradley Mysteries." Her most recent screenplays were "The Painted Veil" in 2006 and "Heidi" in 2005. Diana Rigg has been an unstoppable force in entertainment, and her achievements and acting roles are quite extensive
