Spot on. He's got the same natural charm and presence that his predecessors as Bond, Sir Sean, Sir Roger and Pierce, all had. Dalton was good too, he's just less of a media person. But very charming nevertheless.
Superman man be a problem. Maybe not. If the new Superman is a success then the schedule will be more like the Batman series giving Cavill plenty of time to work on other projects. The other problem is the rights to superman are part of a protracted fight, after 2012 if things are not resolved the series may be in limbo. I doubt it will get that far if the Man Of Steel is successful, with success I suspect the studio will make nice and smoothing things over very quickly.
I pray Man of Steel does well for Cavill first and foremost. And yeah there is the huge rights issue. That's why they were efficient with Man of Steel, because the clock was ticking and they had to make it work well by 2012. Truth is, while at first I thought Superman was a problem, I have been told by many in the know that it is instead the exact opposite. Basically he's in the perfect position to be Bond either way now. If Man of Steel doesn't go well, it won't be for him (people who saw him test have said their jaws dropped for how perfect he was for the role) and he will have garnered sufficient popularity by then to be able to carry Bond. If the film does well, they will try and get a piece of the young man who could be the new big leading man in Hollywood, and I know for a fact that MGM is more than willing to do that, and there are people at EON who see it the same way. As Mazer said, if the film does well, they will for sure accommodate his schedule, he'll have plenty of time to work on other projects. So it's win-win for him. The ONLY real problem here is the battle within EON. That's the only real one.
Let's not forget... before Superman there are TWO movies where he is the leading man being released this season, and I highly suspect with all the Superman publicity, that a LOT of people will go check them out. The first one especially, since it's an action movie. So there's The Cold Light of Day to be released before the summer (Cavill has said that is the role he found most engaging to play as an actor so far, because he did many of his own stunts, had to play a very different role from those he had played up until then, et al), with him, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. And then there's Immortals in November. I am SO glad the time for Cold Light of Day release is closer, I REALLY want to see it, what I saw so far of the footage (there are quite a few videos on youtube filmed by fans who were passing by sets in Madrid both at night and during the day) is really promising... and I really want to see him in an action role, so this is perfect. Immortals is pretty much guaranteed to be a big hit. I bet both the Cold Light of Day and the Immortals producers are smiling ear to ear... never would they have thought to get this much publicity... for free. And, kudos to them because they SAW how good the guy is and gave him his first two big leading roles WAY before the big Hollywood studios finally gave him a role he deserved.
I'm astonished at the quantity of attention he's gotten at Wondercon... I expected attention, but it was MAYHEM. I mean the whole thing LITERALLY revolved around him. Twitter went berserk, and ALL people wrote about was him. Journalists included (by the way, at the expense of Cowboy & Aliens as well LOL). Thankfully he's a very down-to-earth type who hates Hollywood gossip and doesn't live in Hollywood (he tried, didn't like it). He will still live in England.. and he will go to LA just and only when he needs to be there for work reasons. So he'll be in LA for Superman production, but that's it. He is luckily a very grounded, down to earth guy. The fact he has a new girlfriend in England who is a horse-riding champion also helps. I've been saying this for some time now, knowing from people who were involved in his two upcoming movies.. this guy is going to be the next big leading man. So the point is, they MUST snatch him after Bond 23, or it may be too late. Not because he'd say no, but because he may get way better offers before.
Bond 77, you really should watch the Tudors so you'd see what I mean when I say he's perfect for Bond. There are places online where you can watch, no need to download or use netflix.

And yes, the dude is exactly as you describe him. He's bloody perfect for Bond!
