Henry Cavill On Superman Excitement And Re-Imagining; Reveals Desire To Play 007!
It seems like WonderCon was all about the new Man of Steel, as two more video interviews feature the actor promising that the reboot sticks closely to the source material and his interest in taking over as James Bond...
In an interview with IGN Movies, the actor talked more about his excitement with being cast in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman: The Man of Steel, but most interestingly reveals his desire to take over the James Bond franchise as soon as current 007, Daniel Craig, is finished.

Caville might be a good fit for bond, but there's only one problem, if he does superman he may be typecast as the guy who played superman now when he wants to take over as bond.

No offense to ale and others but I think the ship for Caville sailed as soon as cregg took over, he might be right for the role but when you do something big like superman and then want to do bond it might be hard for people to look at you as bond instead of superman since it might get the actor his big break, Harrison Ford was lucky with indiana jones because hans solo wasn't the main role but if it was it might be different for him as well.

Sorry to sound negative you guys, but I think it'll be a double edged sword if Caville decides to do both, whatever gets him his big break first could be what most people will recognise him as and unfortunately it's doomed a lot of actors who wanted to do something different (not all of them) but a lot.

The kids got great presence and charm.. That is how a Bond applicant is suppsoed to behave. In the same setting Craig would've been standoffish and profane.

Superman man be a problem. Maybe not. If the new Superman is a success then the schedule will be more like the Batman series giving Cavill plenty of time to work on other projects. The other problem is the rights to superman are part of a protracted fight, after 2012 if things are not resolved the series may be in limbo. I doubt it will get that far if the Man Of Steel is successful, with success I suspect the studio will make nice and smoothing things over very quickly.

Cavill has been growing on me. I don't know a lot about him. His name has been thrown around this forum quite a bit, so I took the time to read some articles about him. A few things I like: 1) He has the type of look for Bond. 2) He seems pretty low key (i.e. hopefully you won't see him participating in foolish PSA's). 3) He seems to be a very good sport about losing out on some roles. Of course I don't know him, but he seems like he'd be grateful to be cast as Bond. Craig acts as if the role is beneath him.

With all that said, I do think that Cavill would be even better as Bond if he was cast 5-10 years from now.

Spot on. He's got the same natural charm and presence that his predecessors as Bond, Sir Sean, Sir Roger and Pierce, all had. Dalton was good too, he's just less of a media person. But very charming nevertheless.

I pray Man of Steel does well for Cavill first and foremost. And yeah there is the huge rights issue. That's why they were efficient with Man of Steel, because the clock was ticking and they had to make it work well by 2012. Truth is, while at first I thought Superman was a problem, I have been told by many in the know that it is instead the exact opposite. Basically he's in the perfect position to be Bond either way now. If Man of Steel doesn't go well, it won't be for him (people who saw him test have said their jaws dropped for how perfect he was for the role) and he will have garnered sufficient popularity by then to be able to carry Bond. If the film does well, they will try and get a piece of the young man who could be the new big leading man in Hollywood, and I know for a fact that MGM is more than willing to do that, and there are people at EON who see it the same way. As Mazer said, if the film does well, they will for sure accommodate his schedule, he'll have plenty of time to work on other projects. So it's win-win for him. The ONLY real problem here is the battle within EON. That's the only real one.

Let's not forget... before Superman there are TWO movies where he is the leading man being released this season, and I highly suspect with all the Superman publicity, that a LOT of people will go check them out. The first one especially, since it's an action movie. So there's The Cold Light of Day to be released before the summer (Cavill has said that is the role he found most engaging to play as an actor so far, because he did many of his own stunts, had to play a very different role from those he had played up until then, et al), with him, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. And then there's Immortals in November. I am SO glad the time for Cold Light of Day release is closer, I REALLY want to see it, what I saw so far of the footage (there are quite a few videos on youtube filmed by fans who were passing by sets in Madrid both at night and during the day) is really promising... and I really want to see him in an action role, so this is perfect. Immortals is pretty much guaranteed to be a big hit. I bet both the Cold Light of Day and the Immortals producers are smiling ear to ear... never would they have thought to get this much publicity... for free. And, kudos to them because they SAW how good the guy is and gave him his first two big leading roles WAY before the big Hollywood studios finally gave him a role he deserved.

I'm astonished at the quantity of attention he's gotten at Wondercon... I expected attention, but it was MAYHEM. I mean the whole thing LITERALLY revolved around him. Twitter went berserk, and ALL people wrote about was him. Journalists included (by the way, at the expense of Cowboy & Aliens as well LOL). Thankfully he's a very down-to-earth type who hates Hollywood gossip and doesn't live in Hollywood (he tried, didn't like it). He will still live in England.. and he will go to LA just and only when he needs to be there for work reasons. So he'll be in LA for Superman production, but that's it. He is luckily a very grounded, down to earth guy. The fact he has a new girlfriend in England who is a horse-riding champion also helps. I've been saying this for some time now, knowing from people who were involved in his two upcoming movies.. this guy is going to be the next big leading man. So the point is, they MUST snatch him after Bond 23, or it may be too late. Not because he'd say no, but because he may get way better offers before.

Bond 77, you really should watch the Tudors so you'd see what I mean when I say he's perfect for Bond. There are places online where you can watch, no need to download or use netflix. And yes, the dude is exactly as you describe him. He's bloody perfect for Bond!

Superman will be, at best, two films in six years. That leaves ALL the time our boy Henry needs to film Bond every 2 years for 7 films. I predict he will tire of Eon before they tire of him, once he is cast in the role and he will be able to call his own shots. By the way, NO curly hair as Bond please. Brocolli must still go, for these crummy directors/writers are not suitable material for the "7th 007", and that title will be remembered by the public!

BJ, the hair is not a problem. When it's shorter (which it would be for Bond) it's not curly, not to mention they invented hair stylists for a reason  That won't be a problem.

I vote for Omega's choice.

Brocolli might get another brainy idea to have a curly haired Bond, in her artistic muse mode. Bond's hair MUST be straight. Maybe we could have Ms. Bouvier style it for him on set!

I will look for a few clips of Cavill in action. He looks he has the credentials to play Bond. I am tempted to check him out as Superman as well.

Cregg looks like an extra for eastenders, funnily enough he'd fit better in that than bond, his misery doesn't override anyone on that programme since they're bloody miserable to begin with so he'd be right at home with his pouting and My life is pain emo crap.
