Book reboots Brings Bond back to Bentley

Post by Blowfeld »

This needs to be moved to the book section later.
What? Bond switched to Bentley? Is he now doing stunts through the city in a monstrous Continental GT or something? The answer to that is YES! International best-selling author Jeffery Deaver has just released his new Bond Book, Carte Blanche, which is seeing the secret agent using a Bentley Continental GT to satisfy his transportation needs.

Actually, the book is scheduled to be published by Hodder and Stoughton in the UK on May 26, a few days before the anniversary of Fleming’s (the author of the original novels) birthday - it has been commissioned by Ian Fleming Publications.

“While James Bond’s new car may be better suited for a secret agent in understated tones, the author of the book admired a less inconspicuous model. Set in stunning white with a blood-red interior, the new Continental GT mixes svelte good looks with power, poise and exceptional prowess. The hand-stitched leather interior contains all the high-tech gadgetry Bond could ever need. And with the famed sound dampening that only lets through the captivating sound of the wonderful engine, the cabin provides a true Quantum of Solace for Fleming’s jet-setting gentleman spy,” stated the press release.

The book is partly set in Dubai, where the new ride and the author have been spotted, outside the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.

“I’m really excited about being back in Dubai. It is an inspirational and awe-inspiring city and makes a perfect Bond location—especially for a novel that pushes our hero to new extremes,” said Jeffery Deaver.

Fist I can't believe they actually went to the trouble of using 'Quantum of Solace' in a sentence :?

Jeffery is terribly out of touch, he truly believes James Bond 007 is a 'Hero' , that is not what previous writers or the current regime making Bond movies know the truth to be. _.//

From whta has leaked I wish he was in charge of the movie arm of Ian's legacy.

The Bentley is an awesome car! Enough horsepower factory to blow the doors off a Mustang or DB9. I always thought Q tweaked the cars Bond got to have extra horse power. Going over it in my head I can't remember Q specifically saying that. :db5:

Wish Bentley would come back to the Bond films. I don't think there's been one in a Bond film since TB.

Incidentally, I saw an old episode of Mock the Week from around 2005 repeated on Dave recently. The quickfire round was "Lines You'd Never Hear in a Bond Film" and Andy Parsons came up with "Here's your new car, 007 - a Ford Focus". Oh how the audience laughed! How little did they know....

Best part, this includes BOTH the Bentley AND James Bond plus Bond girl. Unlike most recent non-Bond movies.

I was lucky to get a spin in the new Bently contental and it's a wonderful car. I hope the Book keeps the idea of Bond getting a Crashed One and having it restored as he'd normally be unable to afford it.( I'm guessing here as I don't know how much a top Inteligence officer makes )

The new Lotus Elain looks a cool car.and it too would have a Bond tradition, not as strong as the Aston Martin. But I'm sure I wasn't the only one with a poster of the esprit on their wall.

I recently read that Bristol Cars is the last wholly British car manufacturer still in existence. So how about having Bond do his patriotic duty and drive a Bristol Blenheim Speedster?
