Bond and beyond

Post by Skywalker »

My absence form the forum has not been intentional. The needs of a 10 month old baby girl and the ever changing mood swings of my 7 months pregnant wife (what was I thinking or more to the point why didn’t I engage brain - 2 kids in a year) have significantly reduced my leisure time and hence my ability to post Bondian messages on my favourite forums (DCINB and Alternative007).

Interestingly (well it was for me), I managed to catch a few spare hours over the Christmas period where my services to the ever expending Skywalker clan was not required. I decided to watch a few Bond movies and chose a select few that I deemed essential viewing. Goldfinger was my first and not only did it re-iterate how good a James Bond Sir Sean was but for me it still felt fresh and unique. I followed this masterpiece with my personal favourite ‘Live and let die’. It still amazes me how well Sir Rog takes on the role of James Bond. To follow in the footsteps of such a legend (Connery) and immediately seem totally right for the part just illustrates how good Moore was but more significantly how important it was to get the casting right.

‘The world is not enough’ was next on my list and again Brosnan felt like the right candidate for the role. I really like the story and in my opinion Brosnan just has the perfect look for Bond.

Finally, I decided upon ‘Quantum of Solace’. Why you may ask? Well 2 reasons. Firstly, I couldn’t remember what had happened in the film (wasn’t sure before watching it whether this was a good thing or bad thing) and secondly, I had recently purchased it for the grand price of 75p.

What a major disappointment!! This film is nothing short of poor and I found myself actually feeling sorry for Daniel Craig as it has such a weak script and cast. Whilst Craig is clearly not right for the role (General looks and portrayal) he was given a real turkey to work with.
I hope this current break in filming gives EON the opportunity to reflect on the Bond series and do everything in their power to hire the best director in current cinema (IMO) Chris Nolan and his star actor ‘Christian Bale’ to re-unite once again and give the franchise new life.
“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

Congrats on the 2 kids. You now have 2 Padawans to train. Have FBF assist you in their training. Feel sorry for the general public that has to endure Cr-egg's rubbishly poor portayal of Bond. Also, to keep the 10 month old quiet and sleeping, play the QOS DVD by her bed all the time. That is SURE to put her to sleep. After all, it did just that to the rest of the world!

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Congratulation Mr Skywalker!

It's outrageous that someone is charging 75p for QOS - I'd only pay 5p. Poor Craig is so miscast and I dread to think what a third Craig Bond will be like.
Bring back Bond!

Hopefully it doesn't make more than either CR & QOS.

 indeed! Congrats! And good luck, you will need it

If it's any consolation, my mom did FOUR kids in 5 years. Which is kinda way worse? And she did just fine. I have twin brothers, so she literally had to juggle two newborns at the same time and I wasn't even 2 when they were born. If she made it, you can too. Because I take it you're as extraordinary as she is?

I just wouldn't pay for QoS, period  But, 75p seems just about the right price? No kidding about Craig. And it's not even his fault. I just want to hear something about this non-existent Bond 23 script of which a first draft isn't even out... once I start hearing about that, I'll react accordingly. I just have this feeling my reaction will be exactly like when I read the CR script.  And that wasn't even as bad as QoS (albeit still by all means the most boring Bond movie ever.)
Congrats on the 2 kids. You now have 2 Padawans to train. Have FBF assist you in their training. Feel sorry for the general public that has to endure Cr-egg's rubbishly poor portayal of Bond. I think for the kids to sleep that CR is better than QoS? CR even put my dad, a Bond fan since Sean's days, to sleep. Literally. Can't go wrong with it. Or you can play both movies on loop. Make sure they don't see, but only hear of course. We don't want them to have bad dreams.

Blinkin heck '2 kids in a year', i find it hard work looking after 1 cat at times!

I too have only just returned to this forum, but that was because the Bond news last year was dead.
