Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he wouldn't mind his old job as James Bond back --and he doesn't know why he was was fired from the role in the first place.
In a recent ABC interview Brosnan stated:
“I was wondering why the door closed on me!,“I thought everything was going so well! You know ‘Come back,’ they say, ‘Come back’ and there you go! We won’t talk about that.”
He says he still enjoys being recognized and called James Bond “They call me out, ‘Hey James, hey Bond,’ and I wear it with pride,” Brosnan said of his fans. “I had the greatest time in my life, making that character, being part of that franchise.”
It’s the first time Brosnan has revealed his true feelings about no longer being Bond having previously praised his successor Daniel Craig . Back in ‘04, he told Entertainment Weekly, “Bond is another lifetime … behind me.”
However he has never watched Craig fully in the role “I tried to watch it on a plane once,” I thought, OK 37,000 feet, this is a good distance to watch it from. And I watched it and it broke down, and then they fixed it and it broke down again.”
Sounds like he wouldn't mind another 007 role himself.

Re: Does Pierce Brosnan want to be James Bond again?
I think having him back now would be a mistake, just as Connery should never have come back for DAF. But like I say, I'd love to have seen him in a non-reboot CR based on Purvis and Wade's original drafts of the script, before it got Haggised.

I read an interesting treatment for a older Bond recently. It could be interesting. I don't think anything like a DAF return will happen, but then again it might depend on who the new owners are.
Remind me to tell the story about how Lazenby almost returned to Bond. Some really interesting stories there.

I never knew about that Mazer. When was this? After Moore took up the reign?Mazer Rackham wrote: Remind me to tell the story about how Lazenby almost returned to Bond. Some really interesting stories there.

One of them is from the 1990's when Cubby put the franchise up for sale. Another was a NSNA sequel kind of treatment that would have brought Lazenby back as the bad guy antithesis to Sean Connery's Bond, both would be similar to each other one good and the other bad, equal but barely separated. The Sweeney wrote:I never knew about that Mazer. I'll get my thoughts together on this, go over some of the facts again and put them up in a day or two. Maybe sooner if I get the time.

IMDb has Cubby quoted saying Lazenby asked to comeback from time to time.

Not the same thing. Cubby was never going to hire Lazenby again unless it was an all out emergency. From what I understand he was still sending scripts to Connery last one was Octopussy which Connery's NSNA went up against. Supposedly Connery could have come back at anytime if he wanted.Omega wrote:IMDb has Cubby quoted saying Lazenby asked to comeback from time to time.
What I am talking about was when Cubby was going through the motions of putting the franchise up for sale. Some people were very interested and were going to take him up on the offer. They were already working up plans and working out a story structure.
One plan was to sign George Lazenby to a four-picture deal and option Colonel Sun & Icebreaker to start with.
And another idea for Warhead NSNA type offering with Lazenby was the anti-bond.
That's it in nut shell. If anyone is really interested I can try to look up more on it.

I've always said Pierce wasn't done with Bond. I doubt eon will be smart enough to make another with him even if its a one off.Kristatos wrote:I think having him back now would be a mistake, just as Connery should never have come back for DAF. Was the Original CR script ever put on line.

I've not been able to find it, but based on P&W's comments in an interview on the HMSS website, it sounds more interesting than the finished product, and more rooted in the character of Bond as Fleming conceived him, rather than changing him into a lead character from an Andy McNab novel.Dr. No wrote:Was the Original CR script ever put on line?

Are you kidding? Brosnan's return would be ratings gold. Just think of it. The man who saved the franchise, TWICE, repairing the damage left by Dalton and CR-egg.The Sweeney wrote:Terrible taste BJ. You should be ashamed of yourself......bjmdds wrote:Fine by me.

Re: Does Pierce Brosnan want to be James Bond again?
If not Bond, why not a regular action movie for Pierce......something like Connery's The Rock? He's been showing a lot of depths in drama roles lately and comedy ones as well so there shouldn't be any problem for action roles. If Sean can do action films in his 50s+, so can Pierce. And if you anyone here objects this idea, that's fine with me.

I doubt I could find the link again.. it was one of those limited time things..googling "CR script" gets some interesting results..but some of them I would worry that they would givie my computer a virus.

Here is a link with a few of the scripts http://www.universalexports.net/00Scripts.shtml
I think the one most fans would like to see is the pre reboot CR script.

Re: Does Pierce Brosnan want to be James Bond again?
BJ...what about a regular action blockbuster for Pierce if not Bond? As much as I want to see Pierce taking the Bond mantle again, I don't think EON wants to do anything with him anyone. An unofficial Bond is unlikely since since the rights to Bond belong to EON now. Because of this, I think the best bet we have is a regular action blockbuster (hopefully) with Pierce. Like I said, he has been showing a lot of depth in drama and comedy (we can forget about Mamma Mia in terms of singing) roles, and this shouldn't be a problem for action roles. Wouldn't you like it if he shows greater depth in regular action films?bjmdds wrote:Are you kidding? Brosnan's return would be ratings gold. Just think of it.
