Jackson was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles after he suffered a heart attack. Paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance, according to TMZ.
TMZ reported that the call to 9-1-1 came in about 12:21 p.m. P.S.T. (3:21 p.m. Eastern) from Jackson's home in Los Angeles.
Capt. Steve Ruda of the Los Angeles Fire Department said Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived, the Los Angeles Times reported. The singer was taken to UCLA Medical Center.
The singer's 50-show residency at London's O2 Arena is supposed to kick off July 13.

Michael Jackson is dead [Updated]
2:06 PM | June 25, 2009
[Updated at 3:15 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.]
[Updated at 2:46 p.m.: Jackson is in a coma and his family is arriving at his bedside, a law enforcement source told The Times.
Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.
[Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson had rented the Bel-Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater.
The home is about 2 1/2 miles, about a six-minute drive, from UCLA Medical Center. An earlier version of this post incorrectly described the time to travel between the home and hospital as two minutes.]
The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.
In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel-Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.
His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.

Shocking..

Re: Michael Jackson is dead
It reminded me of Princess Diana's death a bit. It was reported that Diana was in a car crash, then later it was reported that she had died. It was reported that Michael Jackson had a had a heart attack, then the rumours started that he had died as one website said that he had, then his death was confirmed later.
He was just about to do a bumper tour of the UK.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead
If anyone had told me in the mid-80's that the squeaky clean Jackson would go before the fast-living Prince (as they were then), I'd never have believed them.

I don't see the big deal.He was a perv.A guy the teachers called the cops about if he was in 100 yards of school.I didn't want anything bad for him but I don't get the big deal over him.Must be a generational thing
Re: Michael Jackson is dead
I think it's natural to feel sad when someone dies, plus it came as a shock. It's not like Farrah Fawcett, who had been ill for some time.oscartheman wrote:I don't see the big deal.He was a perv.A guy the teachers called the cops about if he was in 100 yards of school.I didn't want anything bad for him but I don't get the big deal over him.Must be a generational thing

The man had an important impact on the world. In the United States he helped make major strides in race relations at time where it was still a struggle.
Too bad the last half of his life was as difficult and strange as it was. His legacy is now murky.

If a Michael Jackson biopic is made a decade later, how much would it made worldwide?

Michael Jackson Fans are Committing Suicide
According to Michael Jackson's largest online fan club, MJ fanatics have been recently committing suicide because of the pop star's tragic death.
The Sun is reporting that up to 12 die-hard Jackson followers have taken their own lives since his passing on Thursday.
Gary Taylor, who runs MJJcommunity.com, recently said, "I know there has been an increase, I now believe the figure is 12. I believe there may have been one Briton who has taken their life. It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live."
This crazy news came to light when it was revealed that a Jackson lookalike in Russia cut his wrists after Michael's death was announced last week. The fan, Pável Talaláyev, was found bleeding heavily at his home in Moscow just hours after it was announced that Jackson had died. Luckily for him, an ambulance crew found him in time and managed to save his life. Apparently others have not been so fortunate.
The most insane aspect of this story has to be the conversation that took place in the ambulance after the paramedics had saved Talaláyev from death.
One of the paramedics stated, "He was in a terrible state and kept on saying: 'It's all the same to me. I'm going to kill myself. It's the worst tragedy of my life and I don't want to live any more. I don't know why you saved my life, I want to be with him'."
Pável is supposedly Russia's most famous Jacko lookalike and apparently modeled himself after MJ from the age of nine.
Hot d**n.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead
Well, prediction is a mug's game, but music biopics aren't a genre that typically produces blockbusters. According to Box Office Mojo, the biggest-grossing film in that genre (in unadjusted dollars) was Walk the Line, and that didn't even crack $200m worldwide. Jackson has a bigger fanbase than Johnny Cash, but i'd still be surprised if it made more than $250m worldwide in today's dollars.FormerBondFan wrote:If a Michael Jackson biopic is made a decade later, how much would it make worldwide?
