Website: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a150 ... genda.htmlClive Owen has denied that the role of James Bond has ever been part of his plans as an actor.
The Duplicity star was asked by thelondonpaper if had ever uttered the catchphrase "Bond, James Bond" in front of a mirror.
Owen replied: "Definitely not. It's never been on my agenda.
"All the talk that was going around was just media speculation and I'm really happy doing what I'm doing."
He added that he has "no idea" about the possibility of a sequel to Sin City but said that he had a "great time" working with director Robert Rodriguez.

And yet his name come up a lot as a possible Bond.Him and Christian Bale. IMO the fanboys elsewhere need to give the "Bale should be Bond/Nolam should direct" thing a rest
Re: Clive Owen: 'Bond never on my agenda'
Owen was never going to do Bond but a few people are still amusingly defensive.

Owen may have never been serious. I don't think he was. But there were powerful people who were serious about a Owen Bond, Amy Pascal head of Sony entertainment and Martin Campbell.
Campbell had approached Owen several time about Bond. I don't think Babs had eyes for anyone but Craig, she likes Germanic, maniac looking men and that will in time come to bite Eon in the ass.

I think the villains in the Brozza era were awful too. The last decent one for me was Sanchez in LTK.Mazer Rackham wrote:Very true. The last two guy were god awful. True that.I think the badness level for villains sunk to a new low during the Brozza era.

I never cared for Clive Owen as Bond. I don't get why a lot of people seem to think of him for the role or being good for the role.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

I diaagree Sweeney.The Sweeney wrote:

LTD has a very bad villain, Joe Don Baker
Elliot Carver was weak but the others were stronger, more effective than many in the last 10 movies

Re: Clive Owen: 'Bond never on my agenda'
Clive Owen would've made an acceptable Bond imo.
Nothing more, nothing less. He's never been high on my list of possibles.
Not a bad actor for sure, but just not someone I picture in the role. But then to be fair I never thought Daniel Craig would be a good Bond untill I saw CR.
If Owen had of taken the role I would've given him the chance to prove himself aswell.

He is about the perfect age for Bond. He would have been a perfect casting choice in 2004 -2006 (he is 44 now). Craig is only four years younger, and he is a young Bond, apparently.katied wrote:As has been said here several times, Owen is/was too old.
Bring back Bond!
Re: Clive Owen: 'Bond never on my agenda'
But I still have a hard time understanding why those who criticize Craig for being a "blue collar Bond" seem to be so fond of Owen, who is just as rough around the edges.carl stromberg wrote:He is about the perfect age for Bond. Re: Clive Owen: 'Bond never on my agenda'
Are you saying he would have aged into the role?I don't necessarily agree.Compared to some of the other names that are bandied about(Cavill for instance, who is WAY too young),he would be a good choice.
But(and I'm not starting to start trouble here), he might have looked his age after a few years of Bond.Just sayin.'
Plus,he's got his own sideline in spy movies going as of late!

Re: Clive Owen: 'Bond never on my agenda'
For some reason, Owen always looks more handsome and refined in interviews than his actual films where they tend to scuzz him up a bit. I thought that in Croupier Owen was more elegant and Bond-like than Daniel Craig could ever dream of. My preference was probably towards Hugh Jackman or Christian Bale though, not that any of these actors under discussion had the faintest chance of being cast.Kristatos wrote:But I still have a hard time understanding why those who criticize Craig for being a "blue collar Bond" seem to be so fond of Owen, who is just as rough around the edges.carl stromberg wrote:He is about the perfect age for Bond.
