I agree that being the Bond film helps but I think this forum has slightly influenced your mind out of reality when you believe no one is interested in the actor. Well then, who care about casting, anyone could be Bond and the film will still become a success.Jedi007 wrote:Did I say Craig is Bond? I said that the next movie with EON, Purvis and Wade, and Craig in it would be carrying the name James Bond, and that name is what will attract the people into watching it. Definitely Not Craig.

It will be intersting to see how Bond 22 and 23 perform at the cinema compared with CR and what level of admissions each will attain. I don't personally feel 22 will do as good as CR, but that is not to say it won't be a better film.Captain Nash wrote: The massive success of CR was because the world had to go see CR to find out what to do...and they'll all stay away from Bond 22 like the plague!
Of course how do we account from the generally positive and glowing reviews?
A toughie, but I'm sure Skywalker or one of his buddies will help.
“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world looks forward to seeing Bond 22, after thoroughly enjoying a Fleming-inspired CR, with Daniel Craig as James Bond.
Probably explains why the DVD sales of CR have been so awfully abysmal, eh........

BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

Like I've said earlier you can watch a movie even if you don't like the actor. Of course many people watch the film because it is a James Bond film.

But according to many involved with this site before its release, CR would flop massively because it had Daniel Craig as James Bond.Jedi007 wrote:Like I've said earlier you can watch a movie even if you don't like the actor. Of course many people watch the film because it is a James Bond film.

It's true that many people watching the James Bond films are not familiar with the original Fleming novels. The phrase "this is Ian Fleming's James Bond" seems to be a generalisation used by fans and critics. What the phrase"Ian Fleming's James Bond" means is never explained by these critics. Brosnan was back to "Ian Fleming's James Bond" in Die Another Day; and of course Daniel Craig's effort is "Ian Fleming's James Bond", according to the critics.Well, THE WORLD (not just the know-it-all people from UK and USA who has the internet and the magazines) doesn't even know the Fleming Bond, doesn't even have the original Fleming novels. They know Bond through the films. They know of the charismatic and suave cinematic Bond. Of course they would watch the next Bond film in hope that Bond returns to the suave character they know.
As people have argued in other threads, I cannot how Daniel Craig is the definitive screen version of Ian Fleming's Bond. Maybe they see a small part of Fleming's Bond's character in Craig's interpretation. Maybe he is closer than the other Bond's - especially Brosnan, or the tone of some of his films - and that is good enough for them.
I think people are mistaken in arguing that 99% of people loved Craig and Casino Royale.
Bring back Bond!

Sweeping generalisation, don't you think. And the BO figures in the US are more or less in line with Brosnan's 4 films too, so American's didn't like Brosnan either.....
