Well, this is quite interesting. It comes from John Cox.

Craig is indeed out, but not for the reasons you think

So this is a blog devoted to the literary James Bond and I don't typically get involved in the "who's going to be the next Bond" whatnot. Also, frankly, my interest in the Bond films is waning. After Daniel Craig, I'm pretty much planning on checking out and just enjoying the movies as a viewer, not a pundit. My life and fandom have also shifted. My other blog, WILD ABOUT HARRY, is my true passion, and the life of Houdini is where I now devote my time and energy. This is why The Book Bond has been less active these days.

Why am I telling you all this? Because I have no stake in this, and I don't have any opinions about who should be the new Bond. I also have no relationship or involvement with Eon. So I'll just share what I've heard from people who I trust and have been right before. Take this for whatever you feel it's worth.

Yes, Craig is indeed out. But the media spin that he's walked away way from a billion dollar offer is just that, spin. Eon always let their Bond actors announce that they are the one's who decided to resign their license to kill. What I've heard is Eon and Barbara Broccoli are the ones who are done with Craig who wanted more control as a "producer." Recall that he was give a producer credit on SPECTRE, which was a first for any Bond actor. So Craig has become a pain and Barbara is over him and ready to move on. Also, with no studio yet in place to distribute the next film, the promise of a clean slate has its own appeal.

As far of Tom Hiddleston is concerned, I've heard nothing about him or any replacement.

So there you go. I do think this has the smell of truth about it. But those of us who lived through the days of the Roger Moore contract battles, it's in our bones to never say never. So if Craig does come back for a fifth film, I will be very happy to have been wrong. Because I do think he's the best Bond ever.

Craig best Bond ever? Yawn. I can't believe this is coming from a person that was around in Roger Moore days. It's like drinking Dom Perignon first but then saying you prefer the cheapest alcohol there is.

This is getting interesting. A few here have speculated the claims of Daniel turning down loads truck loads of money could be false because of how other actors in Hollywood and Pierce were treated.

A few bones to pick. How has EON allowed each Bond actor to announce they are the ones who have decided to retire their licence to kill? Certainly not true for Pierce, althou he was vocal about his dismissal.
How can any one who asserts the literary Bond is their passion ever breath the words 'Craig is the best Bond ever'? I can name literally dozens of bastardization of Felming's character as written, starting with Casino Royale. I understand his passion has waned on 007, that is fine, mine has too, althou mainly because of Daniel and his deluded fan base who are complete nutters who never liked a Bond movie until they were serious, grim, rebooted in a universe nothing to do with Ian Fleming.
Partly why I have a theory about Bondmania destroying Bond, real Bondmania that happened under Connery not the retro fad wannabe belief it returned with Pierce nor Daniel in Skyfall. Bond is a victim of his own success, too many saw the neutered Bond Daniel portrayed in Casino then leaped to the conclusion since this is so unlike any Bond in the movies it must be the correct interpretation of the novels. When it was the other way round, Ian's 007 was captured pretty well in the early films, the series copied itself and I would list many complaints about the one liners and other throwaway chaff EON infused to keep 'hip' through the decades. Ian help establish cinematic 007, after his passing EON played Fast and Loose with the novel plots, I understand the complaints about the Americanization of 007 under their watch however it was not until Daniel I really felt they left the charm of Ian's imagination completely behind them.

Maybe they are trying to avoid a repeat of the Pierce situation by letting DC pretend that he chucked them instead of them chucking him.

James Bond Radio say the Graham Rye story about Hiddleston testing for Bond is hogwash.

https://www.facebook.com/jamesbondradio ... ign=buffer
Some of you may have seen the Tom Hiddleston rumours heating up on various Facebook pages over the last few days.

Apparently, the word on the street is that Tom filmed a screen test for Bond around a month ago and that Barbara has offered him the job. He's apparently "thinking about it."

With all that said, we have it on very good authority that none of this is actually true. We obviously can't reveal our sources but from what we've been told AND what we've actually seen, we're confident it's all BS and Hiddleston isn't actually in the frame.
Here are most of the comments they've had so far.
everyone tells me 'let it go' etc..but dammit this IS important! and i bloody hate the PR stuff..he is monopolizing newsfeeds etc..not cool! NOT very 007! nothing against 'him'..he's a nice guy but honestly..until Night Manager did anyone think 'BOND'? Heck, even AFTER that great piece of TV i did not think it..i'd have cast Hugh Laurie sooner! anyway..rant done..it's in the hands of fate and we must support whoever is cast, for whatever reasons..because it's Babs and it's Bond at the end of the day and we love those two forces more than any actor!

Sign me up for "HiddlestonIsNotBond.com" lol

I still don't see him as Bond, even after the Night Manager. Besides, if you're offered Bond and you have to think about it and not snap their hands off before they get a chance to change their minds, you don't deserve to be Bond

I just don't see him as Bond.

Please tell me that Craig is doing at least one more Bond film. Otherwise, the producers would have royally f****d up the Spectre thing. Saying that though, Tom Hiddleston could make a good Bond afterwards

I've been going around slapping everyone who puts stock in those (Hiddleston) rumors. It's enough to make me want to slash my wrists...
Bring back Bond!

She wanted Sean bean as bond, a great 006 but bad 007.
I don't hate Hiddleston he's s much better choice than Craig, I can't see him as bond but maybe he can actually act like bond.
Good part IMO is he can't play Craig's bond either, hopefully they reboot again because they f'd up the story lines with Craig.
Nooo, no more reboots! They should just return to the original continuity of the classic films and act as if any continuity-breaking elements of the Craig era never happened. When Cubby was at the helm they managed fine by keeping the continuity and the timeline quite implicit with just subtle references and things that weren't wanted anymore got quietly ignored.

I'm not sure why they decided to act like OHMSS never happened in YOLT though, yet later resurrected the events in the FYEO PTS. Maybe there was an effort to distance themselves from Lazenby's outing when they brought back Sean?

EDIT: I am an absent minded idiot!    Of course the fact they made YOLT first has something to do with it! There's still the discontinuity between the two films.

They (EON?) are really sending out the attack dogs. This is playing out like the Casino Royale casting, somebody would whisper Daniel's name then be denounced as uninformed, betting would make headlines on the top contenders to replace Pierce with names that turned out to have no basis in reality, then somebody would come from the production company saying not to worry Pierce is coming back even with him saying he was fired.
I would not be surprised if Barbara has singed Hiddleston and all this is a show, keep pundits and fans off balance then p use the power of the studio system to push her choice down our throats again.
What a lot of people do not know is if Craig not Bond had launched sooner Craig might have walked away, when the site hit it depressed Daniel who was already on set, dare I say if Craig Not Bond had launched immediately following the press conference Craig might have walked away before filming began, also fans and press had not been press ganged into EON's service. With this in mind I do no believe any rumours about casting, Barbara stumbled badly her first time casting on her own, she picked up a lot of bad habits defending her choice, I would put nothing past her.

who on earth actually gives a crap about babs, I never knew her name until the problems with Craig being cast came up. But to be so obediently mind numb to blindly support her for no reason and whoever the next bond i"(he or she) is this is why I hate eon fans, they don't care about bond but probably like the hype of the series. They got to be the first on board cheering them, maybe it's a broken spam bot that doesn't know it's not 2006 any more, like those Japanese soldiers fighting in the jungles decades after World War II ended.

Excellent Points, I especially agree about early Connery being the most Fleming of all the Bonds, DN and FRWL were the only two to actually have input from the man himself, (perhaps to some degree with GF, as Ian was still alive during preproduction) after his death however the series took off in a far more fantastical direction.

I put a great deal of belief behind this, as it makes perfect sense and is the most logical scenario I've heard so far. I don't believe Craig would walk from such a huge payday as has been reported by the press, for as much as Craig may dislike playing Bond he has no other options right now, which means he needs to rake in as much as possible before the gravy train passes him by. Also the only thing stronger than Babz lust for Craig, is her love of the self proclaimed "Iron Fist" she uses to rule over EON. Craig challenging that with a demand for even more creative control is the final straw on the camel's back, the fact that he got any control thus far is a testament to the power he had over her to this point.
