This all just shows how media has huge power.
If people read enough times about how awesome and incredible this dark, gritty, deep reboot is they are eventually going to believe it.

But it was totally worth it. To say nothing of paying more but really, if you can, you should see it that way) :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight:
Yes I saw it last night too and loved it.
Absolutely brilliant, emotional experience.

I felt like a kid again watching it.... :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight:
It was like watching the original movies well beyond nostalgia it was like experiencing the magic of Star Wars again for the first time. Something I never hoped to experience again. The hype and excitement even got me to leave the comfort of my home to mingle in the crowded movie complex.
Even Daniel Craig couldn't ruin the experience ;)
(By the way is there a recent movie where tough guy Daniel does not drop his gun and walk away?)

Thank baby Jesus, Daniel was able to revitalize the Star War franchise as well! He swept in taking charge of Bond in 2005, of a aimless directionless series single-handedly directing and wiring the movies all while starting in them! He was like Sylvester Stallone during the filming of Rambo II, better know else where as In The President's Secret Service ;)

In one way Star War The Force Strikes Back was like GoldenEye, I stood in line the first night, never having the commitment of the Sci-fi campers who spend weeks in line I was only game for the day of release line. However it was similar because Bond had been absent for a number of year uncertain it would ever return let alone be any good once it did. Then being pleasantly surprised. (Then to be subsequently disappointed again and again finally to be alienated for a decade from the spy series I used to love.)

I had faith J.J Abrams could pull off a decent Star Wars sequel after all the retooled Star Trek into a Star Wars like universe. Now I can forgive him for that trespass because he did the impossible with the Star Wars series after it's creator drove it into the trash compactor! :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight:

Early morning industry figures show Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens making an estimated $40M-$40.2M yesterday at 4,134 venues, blowing away Spider-Man 2‘s $27.7M previous Monday high by 44%. This raises Force Awakens’ cume north of $288M. Disney will weigh in with the actual figures later. What we saw a bit over the weekend was that the industry estimates for Star Wars were slightly higher than Disney’s actual figures. So, what we’re seeing here right now could ease by mid-day after Disney tabulations. Many projected a huge Monday for Force Awakens given the fact that 73% of K-12 schools are on holiday recess as well as 87% of colleges.

SW spoiler, although insignificant to the overall film: EW confirms (albeit through an unnamed source) that despite 007 star Daniel Craig’s massive protests to the contrary, he DOES, in fact, make a cameo in Episode VII as a Stormtrooper, and a prominent one too. You’ll certainly remember the scene where Rey tries out a Jedi mind trick for the first time on her Stormtrooper guard…

“You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open,” Rey commands hesitantly.

“I’ll tighten those restraints, scavenger scum,” the Stormtrooper responds.

And then Rey gets a little more assertive with her command, and the trooper follows suit. The trooper? That’s Daniel Craig.

February is a comparatively quick turn around time for a movie to come out on DVD/Blu Ray! [creaky old person voice] I remember when it took movies 6 months, sometimes a year to come out on video[/creaky old person voice]

4 months is pretty much the norm nowadays. I remember when it took a year for films to come out on video, and much longer to come to one of the three channels on TV. The first Bond film I saw was the UK TV premiere of YOLT when I was 10. YOLT was still playing in cinemas when I was born.

Yep, 4-5 months seems to be average nowadays.

I remember when videotapes were prohibitively expensive and not that many people had VCRs anyways though my parents did. Most people went to the local video store to rent(this was a few years before Blockbuster)

We got a VHS player circa 1985. Most of my friends already had one by then. The first video I ever rented was Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous, directed by Guy Hamilton.

A $78.6 million global haul from Tuesday launches The Force Awakens to a $689.4 million worldwide total. The film has now grossed $325.4 million in North America and $364 million internationally, crossing the $300 million domestic threshold in record time..........whoa baby, check this out :!: ECH-TRE is dropping a HUGE "70%" of it's theater counts this weekend in the USA, down to only 372 in total :!: It's now officially fork time for the picture, which was an underachiever in the USA, as far as profits are considered, with it's inflated budget. Image A toast to the end of ECH-TRE :!: :martini:
