I read an interview with Berenice Marlohe,a "Bond" girl from Skyfall and she said how there was no room for nervousness when she auditioned for the role and how she kept reminding herself she is meeting Daniel Craig, not James Bond. And I thought:"You couldn't be more right, sister."

It's called acting. Pierce is a versatile actor, and versatile actors don't go in front of camera looking like Brad Pitt.bjmdds wrote:You cannot sell yourself to the audiences looking like this on camera. Fix the hair and get a tan and then film a movie scene.

To this day people are still making jokes about Moore being 57 in his final Bond film, so I'm not sure if a Bond in his 60s would be accepted. Besides, I really don't want Craig to continue his Days Of Our Bond soap opera when he's in his 60s anyway.ml94 wrote:Movie idea: BOND in hes 60s...?

All Henry will need is a 10 minute conversation between the head of WB and ALE once the new deal goes through. That will lock up Bond for 15 years with the proper franchise ambassador

Honestly there is no one as suitable as Cavill is. It's just the way things are. Pierce Brosnan would smile from ear to ear seeing Henry: "Come to me, son".

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Craig is certainly NOT a great actor. First off he is only a character actor and that's why he is completely wrong for Bond. Second, he's not a great character actor. He is average and certainly not the first on the list for casting calls. I completely agree with what you've stated.Veronica wrote:I actually find it rather fascinating how some say Craig is a great actor or even the greatest of them all to play Bond.
Just because there is this whole propaganda of him being a "serious" actor and a "serious" Bond doesn't mean he is a great actor let alone the greatest one.Since when does it mean that an actor that is pulled of as "serious" means he is better than let's say a comedian? Vince Vaughn is not a dramatic actor but he is great for comedies and is very likeable, doesn't that make him a great actor?
To be a likeable actor, for me,means that you have that "something",you specifically need to be likeable...Paul Newman,Cary Grant etc... didn't have an enormous acting talent of lets say Daniel D.Lewis but they were great at who they were. They just had that something that captured people's attention from the first glance.
Roger Moore may not be an actor who could pull of very different characters equally good but I can think of very few actors who are that great of being themselves. Watching Roger Moore,I get the feeling that he puts no effort at all,it all seems so efortless, but you can bet that to make something look efortless is an difficult act.
To be a great Bond you don't need to be an "Oscar" material. Leonardo di Caprio is that material but that doesn't make him a great Bond.D.D. Lewis won Oscar three times but that doesn't make him a great Bond material.
There are numerous actors that truly have a gift for breathe life in various characters but that doesn't make them a Bond material.
Brosnan may not be an equivalent of Al Pacino in Godfather(then again that performance is nailed as one of the greatest in history) but there is a reason why he was nailed as Bond since Remington Steelenand there is a reason why he was awarded from Queen in 2003 for a "outstanding contribution to the british film industry"...
I constantly keep hearing how Craig is a great actor from both Craig fans and people who aren't his fans...honestly,I don't see it...he is totally inexpressive coupled with having no class, charisma, pose, grace, looks or anything that would make him likeable as an actor, let alone as Bond.
And in what else did he star-again?
In the end, even watching Connery(who won an Oscar) as Bond wouldn't make me say he is enormously talented for acting. He is just great at being Bond. He just "had" it...

"Bond, James........... Bond."
Good lord, I could count the number of decades passing between "James" and "Bond", the pause was that long. Some fans moan about the "Bond, James Bond" being spoken too quick in the TLD pre-titles. At least there is a credible excuse, the adrenaline flowing through Bond's veins. Has he been sedated? I can't think of any other reason for the longer pause. I still don't feel like I will be missing much.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Personally, I think he looks pretty d**n good for his age, and I don't think that a fake tan and some boot polish in his hair would be an improvement. It would make him look like a used car salesman, or worse, a politician. Besides, the "silver fox" look is all the rage at the moment, with even young women dyeing their hair grey.bjmdds wrote:You cannot sell yourself to the audiences looking like this on camera. in the movie he looks good and like he could handle bond if he got the call. There was one weird pornstache disguise they suddenly gave up on in the last half of the movie .Kristatos wrote:Personally, I think he looks pretty d**n good for his age, and I don't think that a fake tan and some boot polish in his hair would be an improvement. Did fbf ever apologise to bj for all the crap he said? I'm kind of wondering if this isn't throwing some of it back into fbf's face.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I was watching Pacific rim in 3d last night, I know this is going to make me unpopular here but I was paying attention to idris because of all the bond talk .
The man has a certain presence that is missing from bond now , he is believable as a man of action able to earn the respect of men under his command .
There is a scene where he dresses down the hero , part of it he says this ( attempting cut and past)
"Stacker Pentecost: One: don't you ever touch me again. Two: don't you ever touch me again. Now, you have no idea who the hell I am, or where I've come from, and I'm not about to tell you my whole life story. All I need to be to you and everybody on this dome is a fixed point. The last man standing. I do not need your sympathy or your admiration"
This is exactly the kind if attitude issuing from bond today. I can't help but think people praising Idiris for the role are yearning for more traditional bond again .

I get what they think it means as it is there. They think he's playing it cool with some random girl who is all kiss first ask questions (like your name) later. but to me having watched dalton and brosnan its way too self conscious . As are all of the times Craig has said the line.
The series has become too self aware , trying now to draw meaning off the tiniest insignificant thing.

Craig hasn't mad a movie since 2012, which happened to be also a bond movie. Aside from the Rumor his voice is in the end of the next Star Wars he has nothing . Simon Peggy (joked?) brosnan and Dalton were old storm troopers in the new movie too. Sort of hope that one is true just for the cool factorAlessandra wrote:Craig is certainly NOT a great actor.
