Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Nice to see The Brozzer getting his own spy flick. But, I don't think he'd be doing an American accent, but rather an Irish accent. Because I heard the Devereaux character is of an Irish descent. Perhaps a mid-Atlantic accent would do? I'm fine with that. About time we saw Brosnan in action! Action genre is the only category he should stick to.

Except that it's not Bond, which is good, and that's one of the things that make Pierce a versatile actor.bjmdds wrote:Brosnan has to get back into Bond mode via a USA character spy role, not a British one.
I know Pierce used an American accent in Remember Me. Where else did he used it?I wonder if his accent will be solely USA dialect.

At 60 Brosnan has more projects than Cr-egg has at 45 (who looks ancient and waxen). Yet Broccoli still looks at Cr-egg with adoring eyes and rotating hips.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Like I said, Bill Granger created Devereaux as an Irish-American fellow, but as nobody knows about his books, not even me, I couldn't tell with which accent does he speak. But, I'll reckon it would be mid-Atlantic since all the Irish-American characters in the media use that accent.Omega wrote:he should speak normally exCIA he can be any nationality.FormerBondFan wrote:Except that it's not Bond, which is good, and that's one of the things that make Pierce a versatile actor.bjmdds wrote:Brosnan has to get back into Bond mode via a USA character spy role, not a British one.

The X Factor USA dropped to abysmal new lows in the ratings last night, as the Top 13 performed live for the second time following a voting gaffe on the first live show.
The talent competition, which is currently in its third season, is now considered almost certain to be axed by network Fox after plunging to a catastrophic 3.64 million viewers and a demo rating of 1.2 in the preliminary numbers.
The previous night's show achieved 4.54 million and a 1.5 demo.

AFM: ‘November Man’s’ Pierce Brosnan Has a Full Film Slate
Dave McNary
Film Reporter
@Variety_DMcNary
Pierce Brosnan has been busy — and may have a new franchise in “November Man,” which is in post-production. It’s one of 10 titles that the Solution Entertainment Group is offering for foreign sales at the American Film Market, where Solution will unveil a new promo to buyers.
Brosnan’s production company Irish DreamTime announced the project last year at Cannes as the launch title in a multipicture financing and distribution deal with Solution. “November Man” centers on an ex-CIA operative who is brought back in on a personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former pupil in an operation involving high-level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect.
“After Pierce had finished with Bond, he wanted to do something edgier and darker, and Dino Conti, a longtime producer at MGM, had always urged me to get ‘November Man,’ ” said Beau St. Clair, Brosnan’s longtime producing partner.
The development money was raised last year through Solution, Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson’s sales-financing banner. Das Films funded development and The Solution secured the financing.
Brosnan is working on another project for sale via Solution at AFM — the romancer “How to Make Love Like an Englishman.”
“It’s set in L.A., so we shot it in L.A.,” St. Clair said. “We could have saved money if we had shot in New Orleans or Wilmington, but it would not have looked like L.A. So we thought it would be better to work with a lean, lean budget and shoot here instead of trying to fake it in some place like Vancouver.”
St. Clair said the budget was $30 million when the project was first developed in 2006. “It’s a lot less now,” she added.
Brosnan is also shooting action-thriller “The Coup” with the Dowdle brothers in Thailand and then “I.T.,” in which he’ll play a successful book publisher pitted against a young disgruntled I.T. consultant.

Who cares about Bond, anyway? It's for minions, now. I'd rather stick to November Man, The Coup, Mission: Impossible 5, The Secret Service and The Man From UNCLE when it comes to spy films. Err... and The Coup somehow is a spy film because it has got a spy involved in the misadventure, which will be played by Brosnan himself.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
There’s not much evidence that vitamins can prevent heart disease or cancer – the two leading killers of Americans, experts said Monday.
Even though half the U.S. population pops vitamins in the belief they can help people live longer, healthier lives, a very extensive look at the studies that have been done show it may be a waste of time when it comes to preventing the diseases most likely to kill you.
The findings, by a team at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research in Portland, Ore., being used as the basis to update recommendations by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), aren’t clear-cut. They are likely to add to confusion over the benefits of vitamins.
"A healthy balanced diet is critical for good health, and that's probably the most important way that we get the nutrients that are essential," says Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, a heart disease specialist at the University of California San Francisco who's a member of the Task Force.
“The USPSTF reviewed 24 studies of individual vitamins, minerals, or functional nutrient pairs. Across all the supplements studied, there was no evidence of beneficial effects on cardiovascular disease, cancer, or all-cause mortality," they wrote.
That doesn’t mean people don’t need the nutrients. It’s just that a multivitamin might not be the best way to get them.
There are two clear exceptions, the researchers report in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Beta-carotene can raise the risk of lung cancer in smokers, and vitamin E does no good at all in preventing cancer or heart disease. “The USPSTF concludes with moderate certainty that the net benefit of vitamin E supplementation is zero," they wrote.
And it’s also clear that vitamins can help pregnant women ensure they have healthy babies. The benefits of folic acid are so clear that flour is supplemented with it.
Vitamins are a multibillion-dollar industry in the United States. “Americans spend an estimated $11.8 billion each year on vitamin and mineral supplements,” the researchers wrote. But study after study has returned mixed evidence, at best, that they help most people in any way. The exceptions are people with vitamin deficiencies.
The team did what’s known as a meta-analysis, pooling the evidence of many different studies.
Evidence is clear that “fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fat-free and low-fat dairy products, and seafood may play a role in the prevention of cancer or cardiovascular disease,” the researchers wrote. The American Heart Association agrees in its latest statement. "We recommend that healthy people get adequate nutrients by eating a variety of foods in moderation, rather than by taking supplements," the group says.

And save the Bond role to unattractive actors and fighter/wrestlers who can act.John P. Drake wrote:Who cares about Bond, anyway? It's for minions, now.
Pierce deserves a definite 3rd career as he's been underrated ever since after GE. Either his works get not-so-good reviews or do not get the recognition they deserve, and his highest peak in terms of both quality and popularity is GE.I'd rather stick to November Man, The Coup, Mission: Impossible 5, The Secret Service and The Man From UNCLE when it comes to spy films. As for the 5th M:I, I hope Jim Phelps' name is clear though fake identities as a theme, and that would explain the movie Phelps (played by Jon Voight) looking nothing like the original Phelps (played by Peter Graves) who is assassinated with identity stolen by the former, making it look like an accident that scarred his face (which is undone by plastic surgery).

Exactly, and this is how he will resurrect his own career. Appearing in high-budget movies alongside big names which will earn him back his popularity. He needs a third career as fast as possible, but he will always be remembered as James Bond no matter what iconic role he takes on.FormerBondFan wrote:Pierce deserves a definite 3rd career as he's been underrated ever since after GE. Of course, that would be the only solution. Jim Phelps' name will be cleared, and I wouldn't be surprised if I see a Peter Graves look alike has been made of wax, seeing as one of the villains who's psychotic had Phelps frozen to death in a huge ice tube, and has been keeping it as a souvenir for his work of masterpiece. Would make an awesome story, don't you think?FormerBondFan wrote:As for the 5th M:I, I hope Jim Phelps' name is clear though fake identities as a theme, and that would explain the movie Phelps (played by Jon Voight) looking nothing like the original Phelps (played by Peter Graves) who is assassinated with identity stolen by the former, making it look like an accident that scarred his face (which is undone by plastic surgery).

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
After weeks of rumors, Elizabeth Olsen http://www.denofgeek.us/sites/default/f ... olsen1.jpg was recently confirmed to play Scarlet Witch in ‘The Avengers 2‘ (officially titled ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’), but the actress only just acknowledged the apparently secret casting. She is the younger sister of actresses and fashion designers Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. Now she’s letting some more details fly about this mysterious new addition to the Marvel movie universe, so what can we expect from Scarlet Witch on the big screen?
In an interview with Ain’t It Cool News while promoting her upcoming film ‘Oldboy,’ Olsen spoke a bit about ‘The Avengers 2′ and her role in the film as Scarlet Witch. She’ll be reuniting with her ‘Oldboy’ co-star Samuel L. Jackson, who reprises the role of Nick Fury in the ‘Avengers’ sequel, and her ‘Godzilla‘ buddy Aaron Taylor-Johnson, playing her onscreen brother Quicksilver.
Olsen wasn’t quite familiar with Scarlet Witch before she got the part, but she’s been doing a lot of studying by reading the comics since then, and spoke a bit about some of the powers her character has:
She’s crazy. She has more things wrong with her than any character I’ve ever played. She can tell you where an object has been, she can tell you what your future is, she can connect with the dead and people from the past, the future, other universes, and she’s the only person in this universe who’s capable of doing that. She’s unbelieveable; it’s so cool. I grew up loving ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of the Rings,’ and anything that has another type of world or universe aspect to it is so fun.
The actress also stated she has a sense of what she’ll be wearing in terms of her superhero costume in the film, but she has “logic and mind enough not to share it.”
Olsen starts shooting ‘The Avengers 2′ in the spring, joining a cast that includes returning actors Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, as well as James Spader voicing the villainous Ultron. The film hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
