Re the gunbarrel, they had the Bond theme at the end in Casino Royale also, even though the "gunbarrel" was at the start after the pre-credit scene.

The gunbarrel was at the end of the film in QOS also, no?

So they just continued with this in SF I guess?

Maybe it will be at the start in the next film?

Looked up this article regarding Skyfall's gunbarrel. Mendes says he wanted to have it in the beginning, but because the film starts with Bond walking down a corridor towards the camera and lifting a gun, and the gunbarrel is him walking, stopping and lifting a gun, he felt putting the two together looked ridiculous. He then went on to say that he won't spoil why the gunbarrel works very well at the end, which is basically because of the reasons I mentioned previously.

And yet somehow, at the start of The World Is Not Enough when that movie opens on Pierce Brosnan's Bond walking up the street right after HE appears in the regular Gunbarrel, that wasn't deemed "ridiculous" enough? And that movie also had a more "serious" director in Michael Apted. I guess having the Widow Dana Broccoli still in charge of the Company back then kept at least some restraints over daughter Babs & son Michael's questionable handling of the movies to preserve such traditions like the Gunbarrel without any self-important "artistes" screwing around with it. Not like now.

But at the same time, I've heard the gunbarrel was at the end of Skyfall because it didn't look right in the beginning. They felt that ending the film with the gunbarrel complements the new M, Q and Moneypenny returning, Bond being ready to FINALLY take on his next mission, and the beginning is now supposedly complete. But I'll believe that when I see it.
Yeah, next time Q will have a conversion from his previous stance on exploding pens, and the gunbarrel will be at the end again to show that he's finally become Bond because he's got his gadgets back. Or something.

Getting alittle off topic here but regaurding the new Q, since when is Q MI6 computer wiz??? The Q branch is an armory branch. They issue Bonds Walther in Dr. No, they invent cool gadgets that ARM Bond, they are NOT MI6 IT department!! :cuss:
I've been wanting to say that for awhile now.
Just saying
Rest in Peace

That's just dumb. Incidentally, this imposter 'Q' resembles Maurice Moss (Richard Ayoade) from The IT Crowd. Only not as funny. Or Competent.

The thing is... they want to stick to "realism", which in their mind, means "no gadgets, no high-tech equipment, no serious stuff and just street war events". I wonder if they throw rocks at each other in B24, because it's "riliztik", you know? Completely pathetic. Ohh, and some dumbass told me that "the new Bond is like a Shakespeare writing", and that really sent me mad. All the sissies out there, action films and media are NOT for you, if you don't like action, don't bother with Bond, go and stick to your chick flicks, because you're destroying a great franchise with your pathetic emoism.

The thing that gets me is Mendes is so picky about the gunbarrel not looking right, but yet he doesn't seem to care about all the other issues with the film. As I said before, it all comes down to the fact they thought ending the film with the gunbarrel nicely complements the new M, the return of Q and Moneypenny, Bond being ready to take on his next mission, and the whole Bond's beginning thing is now finally complete... or so they say.

It's funny and it's true at the same time. But, come on, even the honest trailer has a better music than the actual film.

Bond - Jude Law,Michael Fassenbender or Armie Hammer
Q - Paul Bettany
M - Anthony Hopkins (Why he was never chosen for this role astounds me, he's perfect)
Earnest Stavro Blofeld - Tom Hiddleson
Doctor Julius No - Ken Watanabe

Director - Christopher Nolan
