I had rice for lunch today(Thai food-SO good!). I'm really not supposed to eat rice, and only eat brown rice when I do, but I'm not perfect. Why do my favorite types of food all have to be rice based?

nice. I need a new car the old Subaru is feeling its age. I'd really like the new Toyota 86, sold as the Subaru brz and sion frs, it's sporty well balanced decent power without being a monster and still considered a green car somehow.

Is it the new Prius v I think it's bigger than the last model

Yup, it's a 2013 Prius V, and yes, it's quite a bit bigger than my mom's Prius which is almost 5 years old!

The Diana movie with Naomi Watts is really getting a mauling from the critics. Some are saying that it's so bad, it could become a cult movie, like Showgirls or The Wicker Man (2006).

I not a fan of Prius kind of got a bad impression from some of owners The " i'm better than you" vibe but they are good cars and a great brand they sell very well. And the Toyota I like shares some of the technology so I'm mellowing on my view of the brand :d

With my dad, it's about good gas mileage more than anything else.

He's been driving a Ford Explorer since 2001,so it was a good thing he got a new car-the Explorer is OK but is showing its age!

I never assumed your family would be like those people who were about the car because it showed their environmental awareness / popular cause by buying a brand of car
, but it is a well built car, I'm about fun driving and those kind of cars tend to get snubbed by certain people so my reaction name of the car is kind of two fold, but my precious Toyota 86 which I can't afford has a lot of shared technology so I got to admit Toyota knew what they were doing with the Prius. ;)

Man a 2001 explorer ! I would have begged him to move off that one much safer in a Prius IMO, ford knows trucks but the screws up the explorer IMO, set the suspension wrong and some of the ones I drove we're gutless and they had good motors ! Not trying to be insulting to anyone who has one and likes it just my option from what I've seen of certain model years , ford knew they had a problem and did a lot to improve them so maybe my opinion of them doesn't extent to all the years

It's funny my parents were always worried about us when we were kids and the cars we drove, you know the cheep barely running pos the only ones teenagers can afford but now we get it.
my family tend to keep cars running no matter what and my parents vehicle are pushing the limits for reliability and safety we all independently have pushed them toward buying new / newer car that will be safer for them all the crap we thought we were getting as kids we understand it now. It's not about the car it about know they'll be safe.

My dad takes a lot of things into account when he buys a car-and price is one of them. We test drove 2 cars(a Ford Escape which was nice but almost too expensive..my dad was trying to talk the guy into a better price..I wasn't crazy about the fact that the guy was so d@mn aggressive about trying to sell us a car but that's their job-it was Labor Day weekend and they were claiming to have such good deals.. yeah. not so much) and the Prius V.

He wants to get a car with as few bells and whistles as possible, and even without all of the bells and whistles they're still expensive. The short version is that he was able to get a good deal on the Prius V.

As far as the Explorer goes-he has it to go to the beach, and to haul lumber. That's the reason he keeps it around. Also, he's going to let my nephew use it to practice driving(he's almost old enough to start Driver's Ed,which scares me-how can he be that old? )

Explorer is a good practice car almost can't go wrong, at highway speeds they had those (factory) under inflated tires with a soft suspension that caused roll overs. Driving around town under 50 it's a tank.
I'd hate to try to parallel park that sucker.

Yep the dealerships haven't Changed much, and you lose so much value driving if off the lot, and they don't want to make a real deal until December and they are stuck with half a lot of last years model
I was at a dealer about the same time looking at the brz they'd make me a deal alright but it was a 300 dollar discount , that didn't do much for me their mark up was a few thousand more than the sister car the scion fr.

Bells and whistles I'm of two minds on, if you get the car new it normally better to get it loaded so 10 years down the line (typical of how long my family would keep it) you are not missing any features you'd want, but the more features the better the chance of something failing and costing a lot to repair.

Obama trying to act tough around Putin was almost funny, two different worlds, Putin is not a Cold War relic he is still very vital . he seized control in a country with the toughest mob ,military, millionaires and billionaires not to forget all the hard ass ex commie KGB and such. He arrested a girl band who made fun if him, the guy is a living Bond villain ( who happens to look like Craig)

He cares about Russia and there isn't much he fears from the rest if the world. If he thinks Syria us worth interfering in he'll do it in a heartbeat. I don't know why we'd help the rebels anyhow. They are almost as bad as the guy the want to overthrow. Hell most Iraq and afghan vets think it was a was of time, friends died so the USA could lose the bases in Iraq and negotiate with the Taliban while telling them when we' ll leave.

I don't want people to suffer but we shouldn't be the army to interfere in Syria let the local countries do it.

The House will NOT vote to attack Syria 6 to 1, so Oh-bama will go it alone......NOT.....if he does, he's really toast.......burnt to a crisp in validity and grossly incompetent.....the last time the labor participation rate was this low per total population was in 1978 when you know who was President, aka Carter. A complete moron as President. More and more people are leaving the workforce and the unemployment rate keeps dropping FALSELY giving the notion that things are improving......they are getting worse. When the have nots who receive free goodies equals the working tax payers who foot all these bills, the system will collapse. Get ready. $17 trillion in debt now.

Me too, but it wouldn't be the first time I'd come across something while shopping and thought "wow, do they still make that?" I bought a packet of Ringos recently, a brand I also thought had been defunct for years.

Brolin also feels some of the more vicious reactions to the "Argo" director/star's casting were way out of line: "I've never seen such a global reaction in my life. I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, '(...) this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, 'What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can.'"

The "No Country for Old Men" star added, "I want (Affleck) to kick [butt] and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words."

Brolin is not the only actor or filmmaker to defend Affleck. "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman, whose own casting as the clawed "X-Men" mutant back when he was a complete unknown also drew criticism, told MTV News, "I think Ben is a great actor. I think he's been underrated for a long time. He's obviously a great director. He's a very smart guy. That guy doesn't make decisions that aren't well thought out, that aren't great."

Jackman continued, "I know (Affleck) a little bit and I know he's going to relish the opportunity to go and crush it. I have no doubt he's going to crush it."

Others who have risen to Affleck's defense in recent weeks include "Smallville" star Tom Welling, former Batmen Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer, and "Avengers" director Joss Whedon. (These Hollywoodies are all sick jerks defending their own. He sucks as an actor.)
