Wasn't that the case in The Dark Knight Returns, as well?
We're talking Superman's first few years of his crime fighting career so it would make sense for the Bat to appear as he is around the same age as Supes.

Anyway, I'm not against the idea, actually. I'll judge it when I see it.

I agree Kris. I think this is one major problem being overlooked too. Zack Snyder is a terrible filmmaker.....MoS proved this totally.

People keep comparing it to the casting of George Clooney, but for me, Clooney was not the problem with Batman & Robin. In fact, I think he could have been a very good Batman/Bruce Wayne, given a better movie.

On a different subject, I will confess to having something of an addiction to screenwriting books, even though I blame them for much of what's wrong with modern movies (the author of this article agrees). I think it's because I have the slightly anal sort of mind that loves to see information organised into lists, charts, tables etc. The latest one I'm reading is called The Story Solution: 23 Actions All Great Heroes Must Take (see, a number in the title - that means a list!) by Eric Edson. I was annoyed to find this in the first chapter:
But what about films that stay on the surface of life? What's the theme of, say, an early Bond movie? This charming one-dimensional hero lived only to triumph over the bad guys. And he never lost. So the message in any early Bond film has to be: good always triumphs over evil.

From shallow genres come shallow themes, but we must note that there is a theme, even in a James Bond movie.

Today Bond has been overhauled to make this iconic character more interesting and he has finally been given human flaws and inner conflicts that allow new 007 stories to contain deeper themes about love and the hollowness of revenge.

So the screenwriter's goal is to design from beginning to end a captivating, meaningful journey for a troubled hero — a journey that leads the audience to discover some universal human truth and experience strong emotion.
See, this is why we can't have good things. It's easy to rail against Barbara Broccoli, but she is only following the conventional wisdom in Hollywood. If this sort of crap is being taught in screenwriting books and classes, no wonder movies are no fun any more.

O speaks volumes. Listen to him FBF. Affleck already looked moronic as Superman and Daredevil in those costumes. He is not right for the part. He is not as bad as Cr-egg is as Bond, but he is close to that comparison. People do NOT even like Affleck as a person. Hollywood kisses his rear and I do not see why. I think ALL of his films are trash. O, you won't pay one thin dime to support this travesty in 2015 for MOS II will you? I won't.

It makes no sense. How can this be? I'll tell you. NOBODY in the USA wants to repeatedly pay money to see Spock a playboy NOR watch them rip off a classic TWOK ending and pass it off as original.

I'll see it anyway, but I will continue to treasure TDK Trilogy and Bale's Bat.

I don't know if the Kahn ripoff hurt it or not. I enjoyed it and thought it would be the trek to break records, I really think this summer has been off, maybe too many good movies..
