"First and Only" game

Post by Kristatos »

This was a game that started on alt.fan.james-bond a while back, but it just turned into a simple "firsts" game. The idea is to pick out something from each EON Bond film that is unique to that film. It gets easier the closer you get to the present day, and by definition, any first in CR is going to be a "first and only", but here are some examples to get you started:

Dr No: First and only Bond film without a pre-credit sequence.

Die Another Day: First and only use of non-original music ("London Calling" by The Clash).

Casino Royale: First and only Bond film that doesn't start with the gunbarrel. First and only time it rains in a Bond film.

Over to you.

OHMSS - first and only film to be -

directed by Peter Hunt
starring George Lazenby
showing Bond married for real
featuring the main song during a montage sequence
showing Bond's own office room
ending on a tragic final scene (even CR doesn't do this)

Sure he is. But this particular thread isn't about slagging off Craig and CR.....is it?

I think the comment was made in a tongue in cheek manner. If you are going to mount a one-man crusade to respond to every single person who thinks for themselves and doesn't swim with the tidal wave of hype and hysteria surrounding 'Bond' number six then good luck to you.

I must warn you that I once attacked Necros after one of his posts and got an exploding milk bottle thrown through my window...

How about Roger Moore in Moonraker who was the first Bond to wear a poncho and a cowboy hat.
Bring back Bond!

I was thinking more of things about each film that were not part of the actual story. Otherwise you could get absurdly specific, eg: "Goldfinger - first and only Bond film where Bond walks into a room to find Shirley Eaton covered with gold paint".

Yeah, I suppose "California Girls" was quite original.

First and only time a villian gets simply arrested: That white girl in the asian makeup... I'm too lazy to think of her name now.

Ok, sorry for my "personal" opinion (and for the exploding milk bottles too) and for my big mistake of the surviving bad guys...

You only live twice: first and only where Bond didn't drive - personally - a car.

Oh yeah, and the Lawrence of Arabia Theme and the five-note motif from Close Encounters...perhaps I should have said "first and only use of non-original music that wasn't a gag.

TND:

First film where Cubby wasn't involved in the filmmaking process. Also the first film messed up by Barbs.

EON's CR:

First film where Cubby wasn't involved in hiring of the new James Bond actor. Also the first film where Bond's face was messed up by Barbs.

WE MISS YOU CUBBY! :(
BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

Yes, but this is supposed to be a "first and only" game, not just a "first" game. For example:

LALD - first and only Bond film to use the f-word (albeit mouthed, rather than spoken out loud).

I'm sorry, I just want to show the people how the Bond films become messed up after Cubby was gone.
