TND I think was a good Bond adventure but not as good as TWINE or GE. All three are miles better than CR.

The family watched Madagascar 3 and The Secret World of Arrietty. Arrietty was a real treat we'll probably but a copy. Madagascar 3 was better than we were told.
Me and the wife watched Detective Dee, a Chinese language movie about a real historical figure but they made it a fantastic Sherlock Holmes with Downy Jr. romp. It was a lot of fun, the suspension of disbelief was worth it. I think we need to watch it at least once more to catch the stuff we missed. IMO Bond should get a Chinese director for action sequences in Bond (better the whole movie don't limit what they can do) Chinese cinema has some amazing artists.

Detective Dee is an amazing real historical figure. I read a true story book about him in high school, there were a bunch of fictional adventures as well but the first few were true stories they found records of and translated.

I watched Kill List which was a bit OTT with some of the violence probably to gain publicity for the film. I knew where the ending was heading!

Yes, the original 007. Some years ago, I participated at a pitchfest for 2000AD once, I didn't win, but one of the other entries that didn't win was a John Dee strip featuring him as a renaissance-era James Bond with gadgets provided, somewhat anachronistically, by "L" (Leonardo da Vinci). Not exactly historically accurate, but it sounds a lot of fun. I hope the writer finds a publisher for it somewhere, if he hasn't already.

Total Recall 2012 - verdict - Sucked  .
Expendables 2 -verdict- Didn't Suck  . Need to rewatch the original but I enjoyed it better than the first.
Dark Shadows -verdict- Sucked  . Eva Green was awful, I mean just bad, cast anyone else it would be an huge improvement.
MIB 3 -verdict- Sort of Sucked   . Ok I guess, cheap shot with Young J at the end, seem to forget the first half of the movie in the second, what about agent O? They forgot all about her. Could have been a much better movie.
Amazing Spider-man -veridc-Sort of Sucked  , It was a fizzle in may regards, not bad but we didn't need a retelling of the origins and I couldn't care less about Parker's parents or the creepy Lizard Doctor, the end teaser with some shadow guy sucked.

it is a great girl movie, by this I mean not the standard disney princess waiting to be saved by prince stay the hell away from my daughter.
I thought tangeld was a more heart warming story, but Brave is very good and the kids enjoyed it immensely. I think when I was a kid the movies were just crawling out of the funk after Walt Disney died.

I think I've seen most of the "classic" Disney movies at least once-101 Dalmatians(the animated version) MANY times. It's a favorite of mine.

The Hobbit -verdict- Didn't Suck  No idea what the critics are complaining about. I get being upset about stretching this in to 3 movies but this was not a bad edition of the Hobbit, been years since I read it and I think they added some parts the author filled in years later but it was in anyway a poor translation of the book. It more true to The Hobbit and the authors intentions than any Bond movie has ever been.,

I think there is a very good reason why the audience at RT is 81% and critics 65%, the critic were expecting return of the king 2, and if they had read the hobbit they would know how different the book was to the trilogy.

Doesn't suck worth seeing.

Watched Knight and Day on TV last night. As a spy thriller with a generally lighthearted tone, I wish I could recommend it as an alternative to the gloomy, rebooted Bond series, but sadly, it wasn't very good. I mean, it wasn't toe-curlingly awful or anything, and I watched it all the way through, but I wouldn't recommend paying to see it at the cinema or on DVD. 4/10.

Night and Day sucked I'd say two over the hill stars but Tom Cruse is doing some better movies lately.

Bourne Legacy; Sort of Sucked (5/10)  -Jeremy Renner is a better Bond than Craig, Rachel Weisz I don't know what happened to her so look so average she is forgettable. Renner make more sense as an agent than Craig does but the story telling is the problem, its like a Spanish language soap opera, everyone is making dramatic exclamations to drive how serious this is. Jesus/Chirst/s**t how'd they find out about ____(fill in the blank).
Then they bring in one more super solder when all the programs were supposedly being killed, and the massive man hunt with everyone talking is serious hushed tones on the phone involved way too many people for a black ops clean up. Besides I think the whole Virus DNA manipulation is a thing of the past.

Dredd 3D - Didn't Suck  7/10 - May not have made money, and may not get the two sequels but it was a hell of an enjoyable movie. The only set up is the hellscape future and the Judges, no freaking back story about Dredd becoming Dredd or how he has Mommy and Daddy issues.
One complaint it all the slowmo stuff I think if this move had come out 4 years ago when 3D was just starting it would be bigger. Slowmo Worked as a premise and probably looked better in 3d, but the story held together and I only wish I could see Dredd and Anderson ride off on another Mission.
Did a great job of taking rookie Anderson on her first ride along, she goes from being a chick who shouldn't handle a gun to a full blooded warrior woman, I love her and would like to see more of her. Dredd wore the constant scowl and was a real action hero, I like how he was judging Anderson and IMO what she did to make him pass her.IMO it was the justice she wanted as well as following the law.

Yes, and on the flipside, the ending showed that she had taught him a bit of humanity, in contrast to his previously rigid attitude to the law. Basically the same character arc he had in the Stallone movie, but handled much more subtly, without hitting you over the head with a Hollywood Ending.

Haven't watched the Stallone versions in forever. I didn't think this dredd. Was suddenly more human, I thing it was always there in his approach to the law. iMo what Anderson demonstrated what his approach was but without the scowl and prettier. She showed him she wanted justice

Kris though you might like this
‘Dredd’ is still better than ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

I kind of agree, Dredd kept it simple and didn't have anything to tangle up the story.
The fact that Christopher Nolan is such a blowhard about setting the 165-minute “TDKR” in a post-modern world, he sets himself up for the Internet to nitpick at everything wrong in three minutes or less.
lena
“Dredd” doesn’t bother with self-importance. It drives a couple points quickly and painlessly in a brisk 95 minutes, namely about the perpetuation of violence and how the justice system is the root of the problem. The message also comes across subtly enough that we’re not being preached at. Audiences are able to ignore social commentary and simply enjoy Lena Headey’s bloodthirsty prostitute in a wife-beater as she mans a machine gun turret, if they want.

Ted -verdict Didn't Suck (7/10) Basic Family Guy humor and simple premise of toy some to life, worth the price for Patrick Stewart to say what we all were thinking about Superman Returns

Dracula (1958) via Lovefilm Instant. It'd be nice to see what other Hammer horror films they've got on there, but the Lovefilm site isn't that easy to navigate.

Just watched Argo - superb. Ben Afflek has really come a long way since he first appeared on the scene years ago.

Great movie. My wife being Iranian, she said the depiction of Tehran in the late 70's in the movie looked very accurate.
