What if Brosnan played Bond from 1986 until 2012?

Shockingly bad idea. We would have had to suffer quite a lot of Bond films with 2 different old men as Bond ( I know some of you here will say Craig looks old too, but physically he looks like he could kick ass).jorgem wrote:It was in the 11th hour when Brosnan almost got the James Bond role but he lost it to Dalton, due to his contract to Remington Steele. Could you imagine if Brosnan started Bond in 1986, from TLD, LTK, up to Skyfall, (even the canceled 1991 Bond film TPOAL)? We've imagined if Sean Connery played Bond until 1985. So we have only two long Bond eras in the franchise. Sean Connery (1962-1985) and Pierce Brosnan (1986-2012), that's alternate Bond history!
By DAF Connery looked too old, and by DAD Brozza looked too old. Had the films been made in the way you suggested, the franchise would have probably died before it even reached Brozza playing his first film.

I disagree about Brosnan in DAD, now he looks too old unless that what they are going for.
I'd miss Dalton but Brosnan getting 6 or 7 movies wouldn't ruin my day.

Thing is Daniel Craig looked too old when he debuted as Bond. Above is what he looked like in 2006 when the geezer was trying to play a young Bond.

Craig's muscles, and how the worn and withered look adds to the realism of his hard work as a spy, will be the excuses to defend how Craig aging like Walter Brennan is perfectly fine. Oh, and no disrespect to Walter Brennan. He's a great actor, but he always looked old!Bejams wrote:

It was wrong for any of the former Bond actors to age in the slightest, but Craig can age badly and it's no problem. Yes, the constant hypocrisy is ridiculous, but what can you do? To quote General Ourumov, "You can't win."

Brosnan as Bond in the 80s could have been interesting but I do think he looked at his best and most Bond-like in the 90s, before that he was a bit too baby-faced. I think he could have carried Bond into the mid 2000s for sure. I doubt he could still be playing Bond now though as he's almost 60, and people were pretty tired of Roger Moore still chasing 20-something girls as Bond at that age. Brosnan deserved at least one more movie and I still can't get over the irony that they replaced him with the much younger Craig who somehow manages to look older than Brosnan did in DaD.

Pierce looked younger than he was when he did GE like he's in his late 20s, and the same can be said with Tim when he did TLD.TheWorldIsNotEnough wrote:Brosnan as Bond in the 80s could have been interesting but I do think he looked at his best and most Bond-like in the 90s, before that he was a bit too baby-faced.

I do think to play Bond you need to have a somewhat hardened look to be taken seriously, and I think 1987 Brosnan at 34 (but looking 24) probably wouldn't have been a very serious Bond. I'd be interested to see what could have been if he had ended up becoming Bond in the 80's as originally intended but I still think GE was a perfect debut for him.FormerBondFan wrote: Pierce looked younger than he was when he did GE like he's in his late 20s, and the same can be said with Tim when he did TLD.
Considering this is how Brosnan looked in 2005, and I know I'm repeating myself but I think he could have easily done one more Bond movie after DAD, or even 2. I don't see Craig looking this good at 52 (or even now).

The pix "Pierce Christmas shops" : he looks like Connery with hair, sort of like Hunt for Red October.jorgem wrote:Click on this link

Brosnan and his wife goes to a cinema to see Skyfall. Brosnan looks like a 70 year old.
Exactly 10 years ago when Die Another Day premiered in the US, on November 22, 2002.

Aside from Bond, will Brosnan continue is narration role for Thomas the Tank Engine? He did Thomas & Friends: The Great Discovery. He should replace Michael Angelis and Michael Brandon.
