I was watching the commentary on YOLT. The main Bond team -- producers Brocolli and Saltzman plus other executives were at Tokyo hotels ready to leave for the airport for the flight home. Then they received an invitation to view a special martial arts demonstration, so they cancelled the flight. It crashed with lost of all aboard. That wasn't the only near miss. Some of the EON executives also missed by two days another plane crash!
I don't recall how close Connery came to these near-misses. It was mentioned in the documentary that the fight scene in Osato's office was 'very dangerous.'

Yes, sir! I notice that the older films generally have better everything.
The extras also had the special something, they weren't just dull henchmen. Example, Vargas in TB.
Although the older films had that something, sometimes the newer Bonds also had something, too. They were sort of schizoid -- example DAD (have to open a new thread on this): The first part was excellent, with Brosnan doing a commendable acting job -- capture, torture and facing execution. And he does this as Bond, and not a pretender to the throne.
Classic as he walks into the Hong Kong hotel lobby. A certain other Bond actor couldn't do that, because he gnerally looks unBond-like (no names
