I agree James, the Dalton photo does indeed look Bondian. Every time I see a picture of Craig in a tuxedo or sports jacket ,he looks uncomfortable to me, compared to the other 5 Bonds.

He's obviously worn a tux before he became Bond. I don't think he looks any different than any of the others. Really.

He just looks like he cannot wait to get it off and be in tee shirts,or shirtless, or casual clothes, not tuxedos, that's just my feeling.

But Bond shouldn't be in a tux all the time. Neither the movies or books have Bond running around in a tux. He should be in casual clothing if the setting allows it.
I thought the clothing he wore in this scene...

...was very Bondian and looked great.
And so to at the end of the film, this casual look worked well...

.
If he had a tux or a suit on all the time it would look dreadful.

I am referring to his look in a tuxedo, which is always the true test of a Bond actor's acceptance......anyway, Bond 22's competition so far in 2008 is Madagascar 2, The Wolf Man(?), and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. No penguins this time, but some competition nevertheless. It seems 2008 has a LOT of 'superhero' type films, with Iron Man, Indy 4, Speed Racer,The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, and then to be capped off with Bond 22, and Brosnan's The Topkapi Affair! I would think Brosnan will go all out to prove he still has the stuff to be a Bond-like spy, even then at 55. http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/index2008.php

I look forward to The Topkapi Affair, I love TTCA, and thought Pierce was really great, a follow up could be just the ticket, but Bond is Bond. he has a huge following and can put bums on seats. After the sensational success of CR unless this one goes in a completely different direction or they balls it up royaly then it's almost certain to succeed.
There are alot of great films coming in 2008, and with Indy and Batman fighting it out for second and third place a sure fire winner will most likely be Bond.

Too many 'hero' movies in 1 year Nash? Funny that Bond will go head to head with another animated film the same weekend. Madagascar grossed $532 million worldwide in 2005! First, Happy Feet, now this. Coincidence?

On a side note, what is the general feeling of Forster directing?
He's got an impressive resume and seems to get good performances from his actors.
I think he's an inspired choice, it's made me even happier about what could be a truly great Bond film, that if it had a few more Bondian elements (and hopefully it will) might get a few of the members here to see that Bond is still with us.
I should point out that the Bondian elements were in CR, but some don't see it. We're all different. I think the idea is to get Bond into the character we know and love throughout the course of the Craig films, the ending of CR just a taste of things to come.

Everyone loves a hero.
But I don't see Bond as a 'superhero'
He has no special powers or the like. As for the animated thing, I'd say it's a coincidence. We don't want another LTK do we?

The director should be named soon, as will the new title. Having Craig's Bond 'become' more of the Bond we know will be the challenge for the new director, IF that is the course Eon wants. They might want to slowly evolve Craig's Bond and wait until his third film, (if his second is successful), to have him totally Bondian;however, at that point, I think Craig's run as Bond could be done for I do not see him as a refined Bond, although I know his supporters will disagree.

Umm, I dunno. I saw Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland, and while they were both good movies, neither of them made me think "that guy should direct a Bond film". I'm not saying he shouldn't direct a Bond film, just that the films I've seen of his don't give much of a clue as to what a Forster-directed Bond will be like.

Does it really matter what director is chosen? I am sure the Broccoli family basically sets the tone, is there for the entire filming and determines how they want the film to be. I doubt any director could go forth with something they were against. With the director set, Arnold is pushing Winehouse to perform the theme song as well. Now all that is needed is the title.

I have to partially agree with you there bj. The Broccoli's do look after there baby very tightly, but directors do have some room to move. But it's because that Eon do take care of there franchise so well that it has lasted so long.

Haven't seen Finding Neverland so am unable to comment on it. With Monsters Ball we got a very character driven film.

Is this the direction we would want from a Bond film? I'm inclined to say maybe, but I certainly hope Forster can integrate the sophistication that was lacking for the majority of CR, but not at the expense of giving Craig's Bond a personality transplant.

Whatever he does he still will be working with Campbell's 'space-time continuum' Bond from Casino Royale. I do not believe Eon wants to change Craig's Bond that much yet, for his 'wildness' as Bond is his strength of character. Once he becomes the 'true gentlemen' Bond, he may say adios to the role.

Can Craig even go back to a 'basic' Bond? I do not need another character driven Bond but I believe that is exactly what we will get young Skywalker.
