He fit well with Adams in OP Sweeney. You thought he looked too old there too? He was definitely miscast in FYEO with BOTH Johnson and Bouquet as love interests, for both were far too young to be in that film.

We very nearly did. I wonder how different the 80's would have been if Dalton had signed on then and done a run of 5 films instead of 2.

If he would have received the box office response, in 1981, of TLD and LTK's numbers, who knows if Dalton would have made his two films, in 1987 and 1989. Then someone else could have done his two films.

By sheer coincidence I happened to catch an old interview of Mel Gibson on Michael Parkinson, and they talked briefly about Mel being offered the Bond role in the past. He said Cubby had contacted him about it while he was filming 'The Year Of Living Dangerously'(1982). I was under the impression he was offered it later. Around the time Roger Moore finished in the late eighties, but it appears he may have been earmarked much earlier, OP kind of a timeline. Of course we all know he turned it down. He said in the interview that he felt he could never better Connery, and that the role just wasn't for him.
As much as I like Mel, I'm glad he never became Bond. He just doesn't seem right for the role.

Interesting bit of art work Count. I doubt 6 years in between Bond films would exist with the same actor, but, an interesting thought. I wonder what Pierce thinks if he reads this forum and sees what you put together?

Agree. Gibson does not come across as a Bond type to me either Nash.

I thought Moore and Bouquet looked good together, despite the age gap. I sort of agree with Kris when he referred to Moore as 'Creepy' looking in AVTAK, but only in certain shots. For the majority of the film, I felt he pulled it off.

30 year difference in their ages. Bouquet herself said their on screen relationship was a stretch.

I thought Rog looked fine. Bouquet herself looked older than she was. It certainly did not seem a 30 year age gap to me.

I admit that Rog looks much older in the below pic, but still looks good for his age.

As for Sir Rog and his leading ladies, well I always thought he looked fine. Maybe pushing it with Tanya Roberts in AVTAK, but nothing to worry about too much. If however he'd stayed on for TLD then if he was paired with Maryam d'Abo it might be too far.
I don't think any of the Bond actors has looked too old or out of place with there leading ladies. Afterall it's just a film.

What were they thinking in FYEO with Lynn-Holly Johnson? Also, how could Molina's crossbow ever reach the height that Bond climbed to when she aimed it up in his direction? It looked so far away that it would never have come close to reaching it. Did anyone else notice this?

Well that's just a mystery. But Bond did do the right thing and acted in an appropriate manner considering there age gap. I hate the character of Bibi, but like the fact that Bond does not bed her.

I agree James, the Dalton photo does indeed look Bondian. Every time I see a picture of Craig in a tuxedo or sports jacket ,he looks uncomfortable to me, compared to the other 5 Bonds.

He's obviously worn a tux before he became Bond. I don't think he looks any different than any of the others. Really.

Thanks Nash. She never amounted to anything. I wonder if Sheena Easton was considered for a Bond girl part, in addition to singing the title song, ala Madonna in DAD? I frequent all places James Bond but consider this forum my home base.
