John Cleese
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but is anyone else sad that John Cleese's role as Q came to a premature end?
Bring back Bond!
Re: John Cleese
Not really. I think he'd stick out like a sore thumb in a Craig movie.carl stromberg wrote:I don't know if this has been discussed before, but is anyone else sad that John Cleese's role as Q came to a premature end?

Yeh, I liked the new Q (R). Like a favorite uncle. You know all his jokes, and all his weird mannerisms, but you still welcome him.
I remember when Desmond Llewellyn appeared with Pierce Brosnan on a talk show. There was real affection between the two. PB treated him like a favorite uncle. At one point, "Q" put his hand on PB's forearm in sort of a hugging gesture.
And btw, to me PB in real life is a pretty strong character. I won't name names, but it seems that in a crisis he would be a guy you can count on. He was strong and there for his first wife, and he was / is there for his kids. That's one of the reasons I liked him as Bond, whereas 'just an actor' who is mush inside (showing by his actions) could not really be a Bond. And since I'm on the PB bandwagon, another reason is because PB admitted he was a Bond fan.
