Desmond Llewelyn in the Craig era?

We all know one of the main Bond elements missing from Craig's first 2 Bond movies was Q. EON did this because of the direction they were taking. Desmond Llewelyn has only missed a couple Bond movies prior to his death. He was a major part of the Bond world, on that we all can agree. My question is... If Desmond Llewelyn were alive still to this day, would he have been in Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace? Would he be in Skyfall? Would he have been replaced by a younger actor?

I believe they still would have made the CR and QOS without a Q and he would have been replaced in Skyfall without being asked.

But than again EON kept Judi Dench, but she's a more serious character.

Love to hear your guys thoughts. Especially the Craig lovers.

While I personally didn't mind John Cleese as Q, the producers probably felt he was too silly for Craig's Bond. Now as for Desmond Llewelyn, it's hard to tell. He is much loved by audiences, but since the reboot was intended to be a whole reinvention of the series, I somehow don't think Desmond would have appeared as Q in Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace. I know they kept Judi Dench, but apparently her character is supposed to die in Skyfall, so she'll be reinvented too.

I'm also not sure how well the chemistry between Desmond Llewelyn and Daniel Craig would be. I suppose that's one of the reasons Ben Whishaw was cast as the new Q, since he's worked with Craig before, and perhaps the producers felt that the chemistry between them would work better.

All I know is it's gonna feel strange seeing peter parker I mean the guy from it crowd, the angry video game nerd gaaah sorry I meant q jr talk to bond about gadgets when he'd look more at home telling someone about the latest app or laptop to buy in a certain pc store.

Q was always older than bond and even if Ben has good chemistry with craig he shouldn't be q but since this is a universe that no longer makes sense where m still stayed on even in one of bonds first missions (cr) I guess a younger q is just part of the motions.

If this was a perfect world and bond was like it was before I'd say Anthony Hopkins would be perfect, he's played the mentor role before in many films (even terrible ones with Chris I can't do anything else but make the same joke I've done for lord knows how long when it's not funny anymore rock), Hopkins after Llewellyn would be the next best choice, not that Cleese was a bad choice in the world is not enough.

Some people have stated on other forums that it makes sense for a younger q since older people don't know a lot about tech, are they mad? the guy who fixes My pc knows a hell of a lot about it, including apps, where to get great memory and many more things and he's 76 I hate this ageism bs we have today if someones old they're weak or don't know anything else about this or that and I can say from experience from the people I've known that that's just stupid and ignortant talk right there, just like if you're built like a brickhouse you're automatically tough which isn't true if you don't know how to defend yourself you're no better off then you were before imo, as the immortal Bruce Lee said power comes from the mind, your mind is the ultimate weapon.

But back on topic I don't think a young q was wise but again nothing in this new bond universe is anyway so I think they're trying to throw whatever they can at the wall and see if it'll stick.

I don't care for a younger version of Q either, and I only see it as another way to distance the rebooted films further away from the older ones. The character of Q was so loved by many, you could even argue that he was more liked than Bond. Seriously, I never heard anyone complain about Q or that his character needed to be changed. I'm also tired of hearing the excuses of younger people having more knowledge with computer tech. As I've mentioned a few times here, the new Batman films have an older inventor, and everyone seems to be fine with that. So it should be the same way with Bond. It's almost like the producers just don't care and simply cast anyone they want, even if the actor/actress doesn't come close to resembling the specific character.

John Cleese would not have appeared with Craig as he is very tall - Gemma Arterton makes Craig look like a dwarf.

I think they would have kept Desmond Llewellyn on as he is close to Eon but John Cleese was not so they ditched him and Q as part of their making of a non-Bond Bond.

If he had been alive in 2006 they might of felt obligated to use him he was such a part of the series. Otherwise they were dumping all of Bond, gadgets one things most bought a ticket to see were too unrealistic and nobody used them. Except you know for real world spys.
