shaken not stirred wrote:Just heard skyfall theme, whilst it has a pretty good build up, I think it lost it at the main chorus, even if I'm not a fan of adele and she's trying here the main chorus when she says skyfall just sounds really flat and uninspired to Me, there's no real impact to it, unlike when shirley bassey sang gold finger, from russia with love, tina turner goldeneye and even garbage the world is not enough, this just doesn't have the same strong influence imo, it's definetly trying to be a classic bond song but it just doesn't work that well imo, it's a hell of a lot better then quarks song and casino royales song and it's on the right track in that respect but it just feels pretty flat and lifeless imo & I'm not just saying that because I hate creggs bond I just think the song was rushed and the chorus really needs to be worked on better for it to have a much better impact imo especially if you want to make it a memorable bond theme.

The theme's just too bleak for Me, no different to the bond films today, live and let die had some of this but it also had energy and built up for a great main chorus after saying live and let die, the bond tracks imo shouldn't be a depressing affair throughout, sf theme's almost on par with a radiohead song ie it doesn't make Me happy it just makes Me even more miserable.

Sorry sweeney and to anyone else who loves the theme but it feels like it was rushed for the most part & with all thngs if you want something great you need to take your time, this almost feels last minute to Me, instead of something that should've been done way back in October or earlier last year.
Have you heard the song in its entirety yet? I only heard about 90 seconds the other day, so couldn't really judge whether the song is good or not. I'm holding out on real judgement until Friday, when it will be released in full for me to hear.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainmen ... z28Ca1zeKN This is why this crumb should not be Bond. His filthy mouth and his contempt for the notoriety Bond gives him makes him the worst ambassador for the franchise, and Eon keeps praising him, just like the USA press keeps presses a wretched and feckless incumbent President. BOTH need dismissals this November, right FBF and MP and Dr. No and Omega? Go to October 5 in this link: http://glo.msn.com/living/happiness-lis ... d%3D119999 Look who they associate Bond with 10 years after he left the role :!:

Lincoln
Director: Steven Spielberg
Stars: Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, David Strathairn, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, Bruce McGill, Walton Goggins, Gloria Reuben, Jared Harris, James Spader, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, Tim Blake Nelson
Release date: November 9

Casting doesn't get much more perfect than Daniel Day-Lewis playing Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's historical biopic Lincoln. From his wiry frame and chiseled facial structure, the Oscar-winning actor eerily resembles a shaved version of our country's 16th president as is, but with the makeup work that Spielberg's collaborators have practiced (seen above), Day-Lewis' portrayal of Honest Abe should be a dazzler.

That's before one takes into account the star's powerhouse acting chops, which will no doubt be front and center in Spielberg's look at Lincoln's efforts in ending the Civil War and bringing about abolition. Lincoln has been a passion project for the iconic filmmaker for over a decade, with Spielberg at one point picking Liam Neeson to headline. Now that Neeson kicks ass more than he stimulates dramatically, the presence of Day-Lewis makes plenty more sense.

And we haven't even mentioned Lincoln's ultra-fine supporting cast, which includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as the president's son), John Hawkes, Mad Men's Jared Harris (as Ulysses S. Grant), Jackie Earle Haley, and Justified's Walton Goggins. If this thing doesn't dominate next year's Academy Awards ceremony, it'll be an epic fail on Spielberg's part.

'Iron Man' filming starts up again following Robert Downey Jr. injury
Oct. 3, 2012, 8:29 AM EST
WENN

Production on the third installment of the "Iron Man" franchise started up again this week, almost a month after Robert Downey Jr. was injured on set.

Bing: First look at 'Iron Man 3' The actor, who plays billionaire crime fighter Tony Stark in the blockbusters, suffered an ankle injury in August during a stunt sequence, forcing the movie to shut down so he could recover. After a month of recuperating, Downey Jr. returned to work in Miami earlier this week to begin shooting the remaining scenes. The film is due out in May 2013, and also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce.

Okay, here's the full version of Adele's Skyfall theme: http://thefilmstage.com/news/listen-ful ... e-arrives/

Hmmm... While I think it's a little better than the last few Bond songs, it still isn't anything special. It's not really iconic like some of the older Bond songs, in my opinion.

"This is the end..." Dear God I hope so.

IMO the song was crippled by having to use the word Skyfall so often. It's not bad but I don't know it doesn't really change my opinion from the first 90 sec preview it basically recycles after the 90 sec mark. But the song is only 4 min instead of 5.

It's is an improvement IMO the song is trying to be more meaningful then the lyrics and music actually accomplish.

Being the guitarist I am, to me this song is quite BLAND, with a monotonous repetition of the title dragging on too many times. There is NO chance of winning any awards and if nominated for any, it will be from a financial inducement by Eon on behalf of Mendes' request. It will be quickly forgettable by the public and only staunch Adele fans will download it to listen to. FBF, do not panic. It's not important in the scheme of life. Eon will topple. It's not a matter of IF but WHEN......be patient, and calm :!:

The whole song. At this point only 303 have watched it.

Not a man hating song as I said it'd be :P Not the best EVA!!! it will probably be in the top ten for most. Right now they are predicting big sales because it is Adele not so sure we'll see I guess.

Well having listened to the new title song in all its entirety, it certainly sounds pretty good.....nothing spectacular, but much better than recent efforts.

Also having seen a segment of the opening action sequence, the film certainly looks much better edited than previous film QOS....ie you can actually see whats going on. Also the soundtrack in this sequence sounded pretty good as well.

All we've got to hope for now is that the film itself has good characters, a good plot and is entertaining.

Not too much to ask for is it?

Best 007 Day tweet so far: I forget the name of the person who posted it, but it read "Find your James Bond name by taking your surname, then your first name, then your surname".

Like I said before, the song is an improvement from the previous three, but there's not much place they could go but up, especially after that God awful Another Way To Die song. But overall, the song isn't anything special or iconic, in my opinion. It's not something I would go rushing out to buy, and listen to frequently. Duran Duran's A View To A Kill has always been my all-time favourite Bond song, and with the way things are nowadays, it will most likely never be topped. I like some of the mellow/slower moving classic Bond songs too, especially the ones by John Barry. The lyrics/melody of the songs were more catchy and memorable to me. The Skyfall song gets rather repetitive and runs a bit too long.

Yes, i like the Avatars here as well.

What i want to know is who decides to pick the singer and song for a Bond film?.........is it the studio, or is it Eon.

Personally, if i ever met the person who picked the Jack White song for QOS, i would give them a lot of grief, considering there were far better and more appropriate songs written for that film.

I think the Skyfall icon should be a turkey or a dungheap. The icons are great.

Clip from the Skyfall music video? Daniel Craig looks dreadful with his skintight suit, skinhead haircut doing his "tough" grim pouty face. What strange times we live in when that man is "Bond".
