Choose 3 Bond Films to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary

If you had to choose 3 films to watch to celebrate the 50th Anniversary which 3 would you choose? They do not have to be your 3 favourites you could choose 3 for different reasons.

I would choose

The Spy Who Loved Me: an iconic film to celebrate the best of the classic Bond series

From Russia with Love: a Connery one has to be watched so maybe the vintage Dr No or FRWL would be best to celebrate the anniversary and I will choose FRWL

Tomorrow Never Dies: a "modern" Brosnan/Dalton non-Craig Bond should be chosen and even though I'm a big fan of the Dalton films I'll choose a film from the last days of the classic Bond era and choose the fun Brosnan entry TND because to choose GoldenEye is too obvious!

Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me and Goldeneye. Each film was responsible for launching a successive wave of Bondmania. The first two films were successful, but GF was the first Bond blockbuster, and the other two helped pull the series back from the brink after it was in danger of disappearing.

Casino Royale, On her Majesty Secret Service, and Thunderball

i choose Casino Royale, because after the last real Bond film in 1989 License to kill we suffered the stupid pretty boy bond era from 1995-2002, and when Casino Royale came out finally the real James Bond as a man of capable doing things back in business again.

On Her Majesty SS, and Thunderball because those two are my favorites

Limiting the choices to 3 is almost impossible.

Goldfinger; Has the honour of putting 007 on the map worldwide establishing the franchise

Spy Who Loved Me; More Mooore a quintessential 007 film

GoldenEye; Nearly too easy to chose this one. Last of the golden age of James Bond, last time Bond had Cubby and competent production values.

I'm going to enjoy them all obviously if I had to say 3, yes these are good choices.

2: For Your Eyes Only (My favourite from the Moore era)

3: The World Is Not Enough ( Highly underrated for some strange reason. It's got everything a Bond movie should have)

For the starter I'll watch The Living Daylights a classic movie from the post Connery/Moore era

For the main course I'll watch the iconic Goldfinger

For a rich dessert I'll watch the classic example of an OTT cinematic Bond extravaganza Moonraker

Instead of cheese and biscuits I'll get some copies of QOS and CR and set fire to them in the garden

I rate twine up there. It's strange divide on TND and Twine. I though Twine was better.

Specifically by way of celebrating the big 50 -

Diamonds Are Forever - my first recollection of being aware of a Bond film being around as kid; posters everywhere, trying to figure how out to pronounce Connery's first name, the excitement of seeing it at the cinema on holiday.

Live and Let Die - the impact it had on me when I saw it; so super-cool, sheer class, thrilling, exotic, fun; I was hooked. My out 'n' out fave, so it's in the list; it's everything I want a Bond movie to be.

Dr. No - because of course it was the first, but also it is such a terrific movie to boot; a doubly-worthy movie to celebrate.
