Too many to mention but Daniel Craig smashing through that wall is up there. I thought 007 was supposed to be brains over brawn. It was the complete antithesis of my Bond.

I do not like Vienna -action with no point. -story with no soul. :(
If I see CR again I might have a different view.

DC did not make JB come to life. Fingers crossed for Bond 22. :)

The poker scene nearly put me to sleep.

Greetings,

Its hard for me to deal in absolutes as such but I can state that I was disappointed with the theme song, thought the poker game lacked tension and went on too long, and the romance between Bond and Vesper was unconvincing.

On the other hand, the action sequences were very well done. The airport chase, the opening chase through the construction site both had nice pacing and were exciting. Craig's Bond had several shining moments but there were times when he just did not come across as Bond... not even as Bond in the rough.

Titles and theme were awful. Airport sequence recycled from other pictures. Bond/Vesper scenes hit and miss. Poker scenes looked inexpensive and drab. The last scene fell flat for me because I sort of thought of Craig as 009 or something and not James Bond.

I just found it long and drawn out. I was expecting fireworks and got a damp squib. Did you not find the over the top commentry by Mathis annoying? and more importantly 'boring'?

Naaaa. Loved it. It made such a change seeing long drawn out scenes without action in for once, but instead relying on tension.

I also thought it was broken up by two excellent scenes - the stairway fight and the defibli...whatisname....bit.

The Defibrillator scene was good. 'AGREED'.

Mathis was still boring.

Mathis was badly used in the casino scenes, but ultimately he was important to the plot, and should be in Bond 22.

1) Daniel Craig beating up and shooting three dozen soldiers in that Embassy while avoiding bullets and then blowing it up. Easily as daft as anything they put in a Pierce Brosnan film.

2) Daniel Craig somehow managing to follow the bomber all the way up that scaffolding and then jumping of a crane or whatever it was. Again a preposterous sequence for what some people like to claim was a realistic thriller.

3) Daniel Craig acting in front of that mirror by wobbling his drink.

Face it, a Bond film will never be that realistic. We will still be subjected to OTT action and stunts, regardless of who is in the role.

However, the action scenes in CR had subtle moments to make the overall tone more realistic. Bond actually thinks twice before jumping. Bond gets bloody, torn, dirty (the only other times we have seen this is LTK and Dr. No). Bond contemplates the violence he has just done by looking himself in the mirror and swigging large mouthfulls of bourbon (very much like the novels). Bond gets scared before a vicious torture. Bond wakes up in hospital after suffering severe injuries.

worst bit of CR

Post by matt helm »

Where to start ?

But if I had to pick one it would be where he abuses the poor barman who asks him how he wants his martini.

A true gentleman would never behave so boorishly. He was more like a petulant teenager, certainly nothing like 007.

...and then we have the countless shots of Craigs gurning face looking as if he is sucking a lemon.

I could go on but it brings back too many painful memories.

Probably the greatest line in the history of the franchise.

I found it embarrasing - but that's not a surprise is it! Craig can't do comedy - deal with it!

I know. Who would believe that 40 year old Craig could be a socially and emotionally backward young inexperienced Bond "on one of his first missions".

Actually it's probably one of the worst. :(

Thinking about the bar man reminded me of the lamest scene in the history of the franchise. The everybody lets order a Vesper -and boy ain’t that guy with bad hair cut cool.
This belonged in a after school special or Austen Powers. :(
Make them serious nudes!
