Since I was going to start a topic asking people to rank their favorite Bond themes, I'll just post here. Here's my countdown of the 10 best. Some marvelous person has posted EVERY theme up until Skyfall on one Youtube video -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk - so I'll be linking to that in the list. (I didn't include Dr. No because that's THE Bond theme - it would be automatically #1!)
10) Tomorrow Never Dies -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=48m43s
The first 5 seconds are BA - after that there's a major drop in musical quality, but Sheryl Crow does a decent job with what is an OK vocal melody.
9) Another Way to Die (from Quantum of Solace) -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=60m04s
I take offense to the OP referring to this as 'emo pop', and have to think they have no understanding of what either emo or pop actually is. Jack White & Alicea Keys' vocals clash a bit at times, but instrumentally this theme rocks harder than any other. It would be higher, except it works better just as a rock song more than it does a Bond song.
You Only Live Twice -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=12m40s
A refreshing a relaxing break from the more intense Bond themes, this song features a beautiful melody that immediately whisks you away to the fantasy world of Bond, with equally beautiful vocals from Nancy Sinatra. Interesting fact - this film's screenplay was written by none other than
Roald Dahl - I never knew that!
7) On Her Majesty's Secret Service -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=15m04s
I definitely wouldn't mind this theme playing whilst running around as a spy for MI6

Composed by the great John Barry, this a great, low, brooding instrumental. If you recall seeing Pixar's 'The Incredibles', you may remember this theme popping up during the opening titles.
6) From Russia with Love -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=2m49s
Another excellent instrumental theme, this time from Lionel Bart, with more interesting and contrasting segments. The brass hits in the opening grab you immediately, and the sweeping string parts carry you effortlessly to the classic Bond theme at the end.
5) Live and Let Die -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=20m00s
Starts with an sort of odd Elton John-sounding piano verse, which quickly and thankfully transitions into one of the most memorable instrumental parts of any Bond theme. Also, Paul McCartney.
4) The World is Not Enough -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=51m26
A throw back to the classic, female lead Bond themes, and sung extremely well by another Shirley (Manson). I definitely agree with the OP about 'Garbage', they've got some good stuff.
3) Goldfinger -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=5m5s
Considered by many to be the
gold standard (

) for Bond themes, and rightfully so - Shirley Bassey can belt. The opening brass needs no description - simply classic.
2) You Know My Name (from Casino Royale) -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViuR5YcoCk#t=57m08s
I generally think Bond themes are suited better with female vocals, but holy crap, Chris Cornell. You done good.
1) Skyfall -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRoS_F6R ... re=related
It may be too soon to call this the best Bond song
ever, but I was absolutely blown away by it in theaters. Adele's voice was destined for a Bond theme.
