What TV programmes are watching at the moment?
Re: What TV programmes are watching at the moment?
I don't know how the guy on Man Vs. Food doesn't have ridiculously high cholesterol-but I read that he gets regular checkups and it's never been an issue-he's got good genes, apparently!

My wife watched The Snowman for the first time this year. Has it ever been shown on American television? I don't remember it being on during the time I was living there. It certainly wasn't a regular fixture like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I think The Snowman has been on here;it was on a cable channel, though.
Because of A Charlie Brown Christmas, whenever I see people ice skating(whether it's on TV or a movie or at one of several places here in the area that set up skating rinks around the holidays-they get a lot of takers, even here in sunny Southern California! ),I start singing Christmastime Is Here. Charlie Brown was always a Christmas tradition when I was a kid.

Welcome Jimmy
I have not watched Storage Hunters but have watched Auction Hunters and another one which is supposed to be awful. Is it real as they find some good things in the lock ups?

Bring back Bond!

Two shows I'm very much enjoying at the moment are Lie To Me and Continuum. I realise I'm a little late to the party with Lie To Me, but Tim Roth really is excellent in the lead role. Continuum airs on Syfy and is the story of an FBI agent from the future (played by the lovely Rachel Nichols, who is well worth following on Twitter if you're so inclined) who is sent back in time to our era to hunt down a terrorist cell who had committed a 9/11 type atrocity, and when they were due to be executed, managed to escape into the past. Sort of The Terminator meets 24, if you like.

Very much liking Broadchurch at the moment, and not just because David Tennant plays DI Hardy of Wessex Police! When it started, I thought it was going to be just another detective story about a murder in a small town where everybody has secrets. But what sets it apart from other shows of this type is its attention to the little details that reveal just how such a terrible tragedy affects the characters emotionally, particularly the mother of the little boy who was murdered. It gives it a dramatic power that other murder mysteries lack.

Lewis: which sadly looks like as if it has finished it's run
Foyle's War: Which is ending it's run
, I will credit the first show as a good continuation, I was disappointed with last series.
Broadchurch is next on my to do list.
Also Doctor Who is back Saturday!

Continuum, like Time Trax only done better. In a way it is anti business and occupy stuff, the premise of corporations buying out government is laughable (take all of the corporation money pile it together and it wouldn't touch the debt by government 2050), people born in debt they have to pay off is not.

Re: What TV programmes are watching at the moment?
Well, considering that corporations already own the government in the plutonomies (Britain, the US, Canada and maybe a few other places), the only part I found implausible is that they would abandon the fig-leaf of "democracy", when they can currently convince millions that they are free, just because once every few years, they get to choose between a couple of bought and paid for politicians.Dr. No wrote:Continuum, like Time Trax only done better.
