Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Christian Bale? Please no, he'd be only a slight improvement over Craig. If only James Purefoy were 10 years young. He'd have made a cracking Bond, mixing charm with badassness. He should have taken over from Dalton around 2000 imo.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Purefoy has zero chance now. I doubt Jackman is even in the running now. Bale is "well received", "English" and the "perfect" age at 38. Eon would be wrong not to closely consider him after Cr-egg's imminent dismissal. Cavill or Bale seem the logical choices now, both being superhero crossovers to Bond. Bale might be more available now than Cavill is, who is just starting his hopeful Superman era. In fact, the concept is under way: http://www.facebook.com/Bale.for.Bond FBF, what say yee? Transpose 3 elements of the Bat to Bond instead of Bourne-ing it up? Bale or Cavill? In fact, it would work just fine to have Morgan Freeman as his Q and introduced as a rare American in the British secret service for these two generated wonderful chemistry in the Bat trilogy. He is older than Bale and it would work 100%
Also, the hype has already begun: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/07 ... 88562.html http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/80 ... om%20Q.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/80 ... 20guns.jpg http://www.alternative007.co.uk/155113__batman_l.jpg "Bale could have been James Bond…but it went against his morals: Producer of the Bond movies Barbara Broccoli (Barbara Broccoli!) hinted that Christian could be the next 007 after Pierce Brosnan stepped aside; Bale sniffed that the spy character embodied “every despicable stereotype about England and British actors,” telling Broccoli he had “already played a serial killer.” Ms. Bouvier and MP, your thoughts? I used to be kinda "meh" about Bale, but I dunno, maybe now he might be good. Or Henry. if they can't get Bale, definitely Henry(I know Ale will agree with me!)

Spiderman and MIB3 are stuck at $618 million. MIB is done, Spider has the best days behind it can it still hit the projected $800 million?
Sony has 2 $400 million so far movies this year, both need something like $800 to make money but both will sell better than average movie on blu-ray. I'm kind of wondering about Spyfall being sony's 3rd $400 million movie and what happens when it does the same kind of BO. or worse if we can believe in the shiny vampires.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Mr. Bale is perfect for 6 to 7 Bonds. If he's interested of doing Batman/Superman crossover with Henry, I hope it doesn't interfere with his Bond schedule. Anyway...from what he said, he already played a similar character to Bond. Plus, he was actually Bond in the Battrilogy. The question is does he want to be James Bond, considering he already does roles something like Bond.bjmdds wrote:Bale might be more available now than Cavill is, who is just starting his hopeful Superman era. Or perhaps, Henry may not need Bond. The same can be said with Bale. Either of them can make great Bonds. But if not them, then go for someone around Henry's age or younger but not TOO young.tehmanis wrote:For Cavill to be the next Bond, Man Of Steel needs to flopFormerBondFan wrote:Henry since he is young enough to last 10 films. Yup i only can assume, if Man of Steel become successful i think his chance would be little to become Bond. Cavill would be to big for Bond. Being in cotender for Bond after MOS is just a little bonus for him since he would make another sequels for Superman.FormerBondFan wrote:Or perhaps, Henry may not need Bond. Is everyone here forgetting that BB and MW want Craig to be Bond for the next 100 years, so that rules out any change in lead actor, whether you like Craig or not.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Bale or Cavill? I would in all honesty say neither. Bale strikes me as being about as charming as a tree stump (i'm not a Batman fan, but i've seen Bale's first two Bat film, and I didn't think much of either of them. I quite liked Keaton though). As for Cavill, he strikes me as being like a young Brosnan, and that's a whole other mess i'd rather not see again. When I mentioned Purefoy, I did say him being 10 years younger. But to be honest, even him being 48, i'd still want to see him as Bond instead of Craig/Bale/Cavill or any of the other names i've seen mentioned.
If Purefoy had gotten the role in 2000, and made his last Bond in 2008, to take over from him, I would have picked James D'Arcy. D'Arcy is nearing 40 and is starting to grow into his looks, not unlike Dalton at the same age (Dalton looked a bit too soft for Bond in his youngfer days, but lost that once he hit his 40's). And again, not unlike Dalton, D'arcy has height on his side, so he wouldn't really need to bulk up.

I don't think bale would make a good bond, his batman films were ok & Caville will only get a chance to play bond if mos flops like themanis said.
I think the next bond should be someone unknown but looks and is familiar with the bond character and in their 30s, it's a shame Downey Juniors American, too short and too old because a character like his tony stark is what's needed for bond again.

They wanted Pierce to be Bond foreva too. I don't know if it comes down to them as much as they want us to believe however I don't see a upset in lead unless there are extenuating circumstances.English Agent wrote:Is everyone here forgetting that BB and MW want Craig to be Bond for the next 100 years, so that rules out any change in lead actor, whether you like Craig or not.
Skyfall doing poorly monetarily and/or poorly reviewed would help. Craig and/or MGM can pull the plug on Bond 24, its up to them more than Barbara or Michael. I not sure what happened to MGW his idea Bond is the anti hero is out of the far fringe. Play his interviews 10 years ago and today side by side it'd be eye opening.
What I think going forward will become a big factor is how big Craig salary is. The person playing Bond deserves a bigger pay day then most partly because they get typed cast (not so much for Daniel) also they can't take other jobs because of the Bond scheduled. However the idea of not paying someone the old pay scale for 2007 would probably be appealing.
Are there any other publicly traded movie companies? Wouldn't this entail they have to open their books publicly?
Someone I asked cynically said they thought MGM was trying to cash in on Skyfall and the Hobbit before they have to show profit on them. Selling the idea more than the product.
I don't know I suppose it depends when they are planning on going public.

Re: Bale. He's never going to be Bond. Not at this point. Too established an actor. I wouldn't mind if he was Bond, he's a good actor and he can certainly play the part well, but I don't think it's ever going to happen. And Henry Cavill doesn't need Man of Steel to flop to be Bond. Have people forgotten about Reeve getting a Bond offer WHILE he was Superman? Absolutely no need for MoS to tank, the two things are so entirely different that he can easily do both.
