There is now a much longer and detailed trailer for Man of Steel, the one they showed at Comic Con. It's a cam version so not all of it is perfectly visible, but there are quite a few great things, like Henry Cavill in the Superman costume... and more than that, the cheers and enthusiasm of the crowd make me VERY happy about the chances the movie can have...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Now that was a much better trailer than the one show before TDKR. The music was different as well. Why was this not shown instead? I would think a $700 million worldwide gross is within reach, if not more, given Nolan's name attached to it, and Imax and 3-D maybe too, if done. "The Dark Knight Rises" recorded strong ticket sales in its opening weekend, but well below forecasts given by many in Hollywood, as some moviegoers appeared to have stayed away after a shooting rampage at a midnight showing of the film on Friday. The film grossed an estimated $162 million in showings through Sunday in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters, according to studio estimates from people with knowledge of the data. That was lower than the $173 million that had been projected on Saturday based on Friday receipts."The Dark Knight Rises" was one of the most-anticipated films of the year before a gunman opened fire on moviegoers in Aurora, Colorado, early Friday, killing 12 and wounding 58 more. Before the shooting, box office forecasters had predicted sales in a range of $170 million to $198 million from Friday through Sunday, just shy of the record $207 million set by superhero movie "The Avengers" in May. A spokeswoman for Warner Brothers, which produced "Dark Knight," had no comment. "The Amazing Spider-Man," which opened with near-record sales on July 3, collected $10.5 million over the weekend. The film, produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, had passed $217 million in domestic sales on Thursday, according to Box Office Mojo. ($16.7 million was predicted and it dropped 70% from the prior weekend.) Don’t look now, but there’s a possibility when the actual box office numbers are released that the raunchy comedy Ted may finish ahead of Spider-Man. (Wouldn’t that be “amazing”?) Only a few $100k separate the two films.

Nationwide, the $250-million-plus production attracted more males than females, as 64% of the crowd was composed of men. The audience — 55% of whom were older than 25 — loved the movie starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, assigning it an average grade of A,
according to market research firm CinemaScore. Overseas this weekend, "Dark Knight" ticket sales were strong, as the film grossed about $80 million from 17 foreign markets, including the United Kingdom, Spain and Australia, said a person familiar with the information who wasn't unauthorized to speak publicly about the matter. Next weekend, the movie will be playing in 57 countries overseas — all of the major territories abroad excepting Italy and China. On Friday, Warner Bros. said it would cancel the remaining red carpet premieres for "The Dark Knight Rises" abroad, which were to take place in Paris, Mexico City and Tokyo. The film has yet to open in any of those cities' countries, so it's uncertain whether ticket sales will be affected there. However, this past weekend's international grosses indicate that the film is on track to do massive business abroad — an important factor for Warner Bros.because international sales will be key to the film's ultimate financial success. Domestic: $160,887,295 64.6%
+ Foreign: $88,000,000 35.4%
= Worldwide: $248,887,295
+ Foreign: $88,000,000 35.4%

I wonder if the Olympics will change opening ceremony because of the shootings in Co. If the Bond opening might deemed be too violent.
I read they were cutting the opening ceremony short for traffic concerns.

I wish the Bat's final round beat HP7.2 if not Avengers (though I would love to see it happen), but at least it outmatches its predecessor's numbers.

Did TDKR permanently lose the audience over the weekend? It fell $40 million short of projections because of what happened question is are these people gone for good or could they come back next weekend and the weekend after making Batman the ultimate slow burn movie of the summer.

I have a bad feeling that this Bond opening.... thing, will be as awful to watch as that dreadful Women's Day advert.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It seems the overseas box office rules more than the USA these days, thus the reason for casting English actors who speak American dialects as superheroes such as the new Spider-man, the new Superman, and the current Batman. The producers want an actor who is well know overseas who can pull it off in the USA and get a wider audience to buy tickets. Look at Spider-man. It sucks, plain and simple. It won't come anywhere close to Tobey's USA box office numbers but the overseas market seems to like this crud as Spiderman. Why? I have zero idea. It is one of the worst films I have ever watched. I think the 3-D availability sold it as a novelty, plus the Imax added to it's total. If Tobey had these in 2002-2007, his films could have done close to $1 billion EACH. Take Bond 23. Internationally ,will these drones overseas throw out more money to see this clown make a fool out of himself a third time? I think they will. Why? They don't know any better. Bond 23 won't be a blockbuster in the USA but overseas there are so many markets now that it probably will do as well as his previous 2 films there........unless..........Sweeney and the English Agent pan it, and we go viral on the internet with their opinions, and FBF executes ORDER 007, and whereby the box office flops. FBF, we might need your services at the UK premiere.......are you up to the task at hand?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Actually, we need Carl and any rebels from the UK and elsewhere to do this. Their job is in their turf.....in their respective country in the overseas. You and I are Americans here, and we got to do our part here. Like I said, this isn't a one man's job, and it's TOO big for one person to do it all. We all have to do our own part. If we're going to take down Bond 23, we have to trash the Bond franchise, and that he is dead and no longer the hero in everybody's mind anymore.bjmdds wrote:FBF, we might need your services at the UK premiere.......are you up to the task at hand?
Speaking of the Bat's final battle, has anyone here seen it more than twice? If not, BJ would really need help to curb this new arachnid from getting anywhere near any of Tobey's. I saw Rises 6 times already if you want to know.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Tobey's first Spider-Man did $403 million, in 2002, just in the USA. Garfield's is at $230 million here. It won't touch it in the USA, that's a given, but overseas? FBF, do you enjoy films as much the 11th time you see it as the first? I have seen the Bat twice, so far. I think $1 billion will be a stretch this time. Ledger's death added to the box office last time. I think $900 million is a fair final worldwide total box office gross, given what transpired and the premiere cancellations, etc.

If this is the case with Bond 23, then it's time to send in those weirdos for Bondbjmdds wrote:Tobey's first Spider-Man did $403 million, in 2002, just in the USA. Garfield's is at $230 million here. It won't touch it in the USA, that's a given, but overseas?

It gets better every time I watch it.
As much as Rises is now my favorite movie, I felt that it didn't have the energy from the Bat's round 2. Yes, Heath's death added a lot to the box office. When I was at the opening night, there were less people dressed plus compared to Harry's last adventure, and many people were already inside the theater. Plus, people were lined up for some theaters.I think $1 billion will be a stretch this time. Ledger's death added to the box office last time. http://news.yahoo.com/nbc-big-bite-drac ... tml?_esi=1 MP, how unoriginal is that
NBC is devoid of ideas. Two days until Cr-egg's helicopter stunt. I wonder if he will be wearing another life preserver or parachute? FBF, get the tomatoes ready for launching at him. Sweeney and Kris and EA can greet him live and tell him how much they are looking forward to Bond 23.

Mazer, aka Q, how does this affect Cavill or Bale being chosen as the next Bond? ----------MGM plans IPO
Move considered likely after studio emerged from bankruptcy
By JILL GOLDSMITH
MGM is planning to go public, the studio announced Tuesday in a press release that took Hollywood and Wall Street by surprise.
The company said ''it has previously submitted a draft registration statement on a confidential basis to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a possible initial public offering of its Class A common stock.'' An eventual IPO was considered likely after the studio emerged from bankruptcy in 2010 with new owners and toppers looking to rebuild the business, but it wasn't clear when.

Marry Poppins? this is another opener rumor.

http://www.mediaite.com/online/london-o ... voldemort/
Instead of being done in by Harry Potter, Voldemort will meet his match in a British nanny with an umbrella and a penchant for melody…
About 30 actors each depicting Mary Poppins, the magical English nanny played by Julie Andrews in the 1964 Disney film, will descend from the roof of the stadium on wires and “float” to the ground with their opened umbrellas. The nightmare will be banished and happiness restored. “It’s a jaw-dropping sequence,” said one source.
