What do you think of the other Bond forums?

Post by Terry »

CommanderBond.net, MI6, and AbsolutelyJamesBond are the three that spring to mind. Are there any others?

My opinion:

CommanderBond.net
The biggest and most flashy site/forum by far. The first place to clamp down on posters unhappy with Daniel Craig. Good site but the forum has been rendered almost pointless...unless you want to say Pierce Brosnan was crap. Then you'll be welcome.

MI6
Excellent news source. A large rambling forum with too many topics.

Absolutely James Bond
The JT Marlin of Bond forums (I bet no one gets that joke) but probably the friendliest of the three forums with more of a community feel. Out of the three this one is more liable to have a debate.

Alt.fan.james-bond is the only one I've ever participated in, but it's unmoderated and, like most usenet groups, prone to troll invasions, particularly around the release of a new Bond film (lots of racists when DAD was released protesting about Bond being sexually involved with a "negress", and a flood of personal attacks on one forum member around the time of CR's release). I prefer it here.

So do I. Attacks common place at the first two sites mentioned, unless you are in cloned thought mode with most there.

I think Mi6 is the most well presented and the best for news than all of the rest. I spend more time there than anywhere. Though DCINB does get it's fair share. When members talk sense and stop whingeing about Craig and CR this can be a fun site.
CBn is okay, the forum is a waste of time in my opinon. And the style is hard to read.
Mi6 wins the day.
DCINB...must try harder. :P

CommanderBond.net is an Eon crony site with a boring one-sided forum. I haven't visited it for ages but the IMDB Casino Royale board must have one of the biggest collections of muppets anywhere on the internet.

Now that is something I'd agree with Jim.
But then can you think of a good forum on IMDb?

OMG Series???!!!11

IMDb forums are a good argument against letting 12-year-olds have access to computers.

Absolutely James Bond has been a good place, although many are of the opinion (their choice) that Daniel Craig makes a wonderful Bond. Very nice people, but I had to tender my 'resignation' a la OHMSS.

I don't think anyone had to leave a site.
They just chose too.

Yes, you're right, old man. Actually, it was sort of a resignation 'in the air' .... who knows, perhaps Cmdr 0077 may return in ........

Little bit off topic, but your avatar does look very appetising Commander.
:)
I must say DcinB does have a great selection of avatars, especially the food and drink ones.
I'm still waiting for that Dom Perignon btw, and I'm hoping it's a '53.
