yeah, Hollywood mocks Bond, but Sony was willing to team up with Kevin McClory to produce a rival Bond film, up until MGM sued and succesfully won the case. Of course Sony bought MGM and now owns the Bond franchise. But for something Hollywood mocks, it sure seems to be of great value to a great many. and let's face it, out of all the properties Sony accquired from MGM, Bond is the most valuable. after all the Pink Panther film didn't make as much as Casino Royale, now did it?

What really annoys me Paco is when former Bond girls 'regret' they took the part in a Bond film, as if it was beneath them, such as Rosamund Pike's comments. There is NO other success story in the annuls of film history as Bond, yet the'elite' tend to shy away from it. Look at Owen, Jackman, etc., who thought Bond could be a stereotyped step down for their careers. Craig had to ask Spielberg if he would ever hire him after being James Bond, yet Spielberg directed Close Encounters, Jaws,Indiana Jones, etc., long before his so-called 'artistic endeavours'. Bond should be treated with a lot more respect than it has been by Hollywood.

what did Rosamund Pike say? as for Speilberg, there wouldn't have been an Indiana Jones if it hadn't of been for his love of Bond.

It doesn't really bother me, the whole respect thing in Hollywood. For me Hollywood is more often than not BS.
Take the Oscars, more and more they become a joke each year. As for Bond, no matter what he's a stand alone, unique. Even now. Hollywood doesn't have to respect him, but the rest of the world seems too.
No matter what transpires I'll be a Bond fan forever more. It's not something I could or would change now. If they made Bond an African American with homosexual relationships sure I'd be annoyed as hell, but eventually the Bond I admire and see would return. (Not that Bond is likely to make such a radical change) He's lasted this long, I don't see why he can't for along time yet. You earn respect, Bond has mine, Hollywood wishes it did.

Maybe the Bond films should receive a 'lifetime achievement award' Nash, at the Oscars. What do you think, being it is the longest running film entity in the HISTORY of the movie world, now spanning over 4 decades! I also find the Oscars a joke. The alternate Bond you 'conjured up' would cause more of a stir than Craig ever did. In what year do you think it could fly, if ever?

I hope I never see the Bond that I described. I'm not racist or homophopic, but that too me would be so far from Bond why would you bother, but who knows what the future may bring.
As for the 'lifetime achievment award' well it's a nice idea. But they generally give those out to real people.

yeah, like anybody would have heard of her otherwise. that's like biting the hand that feeds you. very ungrateful.

That's very true paco, who is she anyway? But to regret playing a role is silly. I can understand an actor not being happy with a performance, but why take the role if you're not happy with the character or the script. Bet she didn't mind promoting the film all over the world and the paycheck at the end of the day.

Correct Nash. The Bond girls, for the most part, do not go on to greater things. Where is Catarina Murino now? BUT, they received worldwide exposure that NEVER would have happened without the role.

Eva Green doesn't seem to be doing to badly from her experience with Bond. Having landed the 'face of' Christian Dior.
As well as two films in the pipeline and The Golden Compass set for release.

The Golden Compass is a $180 million film, with a bearded Craig and a witch being Eva Green. Nicole Kidman will team up with Craig after having done The Visiting with him. I wonder what kind of chemistry the directors saw between them to utilize them twice in the same year for two separate films.

I think it's just coincidence bj. The Visiting was made back in 2005 before CR, whereas The Golden Compass was shot after CR.

http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/ Watch the trailer and tell me if you now prefer Craig with a beard. Eva Green looks like she would do nicely in a Harry Potter film. Of note, watch the credit names and see where Daniel Craig's name is listed. Do you think this film will be a hit with Craig/Green/Kidman?

I think it looks quite fun, with or without Craig.
The credit is I think showing how much Bond has done for him. Before Bond he was unknown (largely) after the success of CR he's become a household name. The credit in Golden Compass reflects this.

Craig's film, now called The Invasion, aka The Visiting, does not appear to have a website, and no trailers can be found. It was shelved in 2006, rescheduled for theatres twice, and it looks like this film will not be a hit at all. The producers waited until after Casino Royale was in the theatres to release it, but it looks like this one may go to DVD quite soon.
