Jesus FBF! It had a dip but kept on going week after week! What more can you want? Nobody said it would be next door neighbors to Cameron's neck of the woods and it is! Even though the finale is currently the 3rd highest grossing movie, it still hurts that it dropped that hard a week after opening weekend. I was hoping it would beat SS's worldwide adjusted figures, especially here in the US.

It did great FBF. It opened huge, so the fall off is expected the second week but it has better legs than the others did. It's STILL doing close to $1 million per day on the weekends. Do not despair. It showed the green veggy what a franchise SHOULD do!

India is not rolling over for the Bond team. I would guess when they asked for permission in July they did not mention it would be over a week
If they tried this in NY City or London the population would be fit to be tied. Why does Eon expect the Indians to be any less concerned about the daily routines ?

I think the point is HP did so much better completely blowing away expectations! HP took home the championship by a big margin!

If Eon does have a script and a cast completely in place, and is preparing to film a major non-Fleming titled Bond(so what can we expect from this crew), why is there NO confirmation or major announcements about the film IF it is so well planned and where is Mendes to talk to the media? What the heck is going on here?

Ford and Craig are not dynamic duo, so exactly who and Craig is a dynamic duo? I haven't seen it. They are a right comic actor like RDJ and Ford would of made CvA watchable.

'Cowboys & Aliens' had humorless stars
“Cowboys & Aliens” is a sci-fi-action-western starring Indiana Jones and James Bond: What could possibly go wrong? Lots, apparently. Despite the star power of Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, this wannabe blockbuster made less than $100 million in its first four weeks. For a movie that cost $160 million, that’s devastating news.
Brandon Gray, creator and president of BoxOfficeMojo.com, says the movie may have been doomed from the start. “For any movie, the premise is the foundation, and ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ was conceptually challenged,” he says. “I know it’s based on some comic book, but it feels like a classic case of Hollywood executives putting a lot of terms on a board and throwing darts at it and then combining whatever they land on.”
Plus, Ford and Craig are not a dynamic duo. “Why did they make this sort of wacky, oddball film with the two most humorless leading men in Hollywood?” wonders Guy Lodge, a film critic for InContention.com. “They both seemed to be taking it so seriously, and that was apparent even from the marketing and the trailers. If it had had one Harrison Ford type and then a comic star to play off him — the Tommy Lee Jones/Will Smith dynamic [from ‘Men in Black’] — then that might have looked more appealing.”

I think it's too early for anyone at his age to write an autobiography. Wait until you've reached retirement I say. That's what Connery and Moore did.bjmdds wrote:All he has to do is read this forum to get the facts as they are, not his delusional view of himself. By the way, who would read DC's book and who would bother to see it as a film? Certainly not MP or Ale or FBF? Maybe Sweeney and Stocks would do both.
Though not as ridiculous as the news of Miley Cyrus writing her own.

Miley? Yuck! Agree. The Green Lantern and C&A both bombed and will be huge studio losses, yet other superhero films did better. Is it pure Reynolds and DC non-draw, for Reynolds other film tanked this summer and DC is a perpetual tank. If Jackman was the Lantern, would the film have done any better? BOTH DC and Reynolds will be blacklisted now by the bean counters at the movie studios.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Maybe, maybe not. Most of Jackman's films outside the X-Men franchise have tanked, and I don't think his presence would have made much difference to GL.bjmdds wrote: If Jackman was the Lantern, would the film have done any better?

I do not know what GL is about, from their adverts I never got a better idea, not enough of one to make me care. The adverts were confusing for someone like me who did not understand why certain scenes were supposed to be significant.Kristatos wrote:Maybe, maybe not. http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/ Cr-egg's cowboy days are officially DONE! "16th" place and it will NOT top $100 miilion in the USA NOR overseas! Eon, do you see what you have created by enabling studios to lose HUGE amounts of money investing on your loin toy? May that was Bore-bara's ultimate goal
Bring down the rest of Hollywood and ruin the movie industry?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
No they didn't. Happy Feet is the only one of those to break the $100 million barrier at the US box office. His only other non-Wolverine movie to do that is Van Helsing. The figures suggest that movie audiences like him best as an action hero (I don't really count Happy Feet, since people don't usually go to see animated movies because of the voice talent), and I think they would have responded to him as Bond, but let's not kid ourselves that his name alone is a box office draw.FormerBondFan wrote: Swordfish, Happy Feet, Kate & Leopold, and The Prestige did very well at the BO.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Unless you're Will Smith, nobody's name is a box office draw these days. Those days are over. That's why Hollywood has heavy been relying on franchises and less on star power. This is why I roll my eyes when folks here claim C&A's poor box office = the end of Craig as Bond. No, the end of Craig is when nobody goes to see Bond 23, it doesn't matter how his other films perform. That would be like FOX firing Hugh Jackman in the Wolverine role because of the performance of his other flicks. No. As long as the Bond/Wolverine films perform decently at the box office Craig and Jackman will keep their roles regardless of their limited star power outside the roles.Kristatos wrote:let's not kid ourselves that his name alone is a box office draw.

The financiers of these mega priced films would have a different take on that. In this era of downsizing, you don't go extravagant in terms of spending money, if that actor is not showing support at the box office in general. Danielle the eggster booked a LOSS for Eon in QOS......fact.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well what do you know. I was telling you guys about that awesome Bond reference in "Suits" (USA Network show that I enjoy a LOT) and today I got to speak to the man himself (Gabriel Macht, the actor who portrays Harvey in the show), and he was asked by another colleague too about this Bond reference. Other colleague went so far as to ask him whether he'd play Bond if given the chance (not happening, he's American, but still). And Macht DID say that he didn't think it would happen because he's American. He added that he "worked with Craig on a BBC movie 2 years ago, great guy, I think he's done a terrific job, and I also worked with Timothy Dalton many years ago. But I think that is as close to James Bond as I will ever get. But hey, if I was ever given the opportunity to play James Bond, I'd take it in a heartbeat."
Now let me tell you all that his character on Suits is WAY more Bondian than Craig will EVER dream to be. And he plays a lawyer. So imagine. But he's really got the style, the moves, and the "I pretend not to care" attitude that Bond has. Anyway I thought it was very cute that he was so enthused about Bond. (He messed up the reference they made on the show thinking it was Roger Moore when it was Sir Sean and Pussy Galore, but never mind
)

Absolutely. The point for Bond is not the actor being a draw in this specific case (besides there's absolutely NO comparison between Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman in that sense). The point is they already had one movie that made them book a loss. The second one doesn't do well, the actor gets changed. It's as simple as that. Not to mention, Craig is done regardless at this point... way too old-looking to take on another one after Bond 23. And he isn't interested in the role that much anyway. If QoS hadn't been the disappointment it was, I don't even know if he would have gone on with the third one, with all the time gap there has been. The financiers of these mega priced films would have a different take on that.
