Q, what box office total does this have to do to break even?

"At least Captain's fortunes are brighter than those of fellow comic book adaptation Green Lantern, which grossed $11.9 million to bring its disappointing foreign total to $79.1 million. Lantern had a solid $3.4 million start in Brazil and held first place in Mexico with $2.5 million, but it has yet to pick up the slack overseas after its weak domestic performance." "Speaking of Harry Potter, the final entry in the series grossed $14.9 million from 60 territories and reached $901 million on Sunday. That makes it just the third movie ever to pass $900 million overseas after Avatar and Titanic. Potter's worldwide total climbed to $1.267 billion, and it has a chance at $1.3 billion before the end of its run."
No sequels for Ryan Reynolds and Martin Campbell. I did not tbink Reynolds would cut it as a superhero as was the case with Routh as Superman. Reynolds other film bombed too. He should stick to Adventureland style films. Campbell is all set to introduce Henry as Bond after his Green Lantern fiasco but will Eon want him?

I was looking at a map that showed where there was potential for flooding and pretty much all of the New York area has the potential for flooding. What are they saying about the possibility of evacuating?

Coastal areas only in NYC but 75 mph winds will knock down trees and power lines so who knows if I will have electricity.
I hope the storm veers off due east. They are calling it the 100 year storm here on tv.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
100 year storm is the perfect description of it. Hopefully the power stays on some of the time.Surprised that it is still so strong so far up the East Coast though it's not unheard of.

Once in a lifetime that's for sure!
I can't help think if the War of 1812, the burning of Washington DC August 24th, 1814, the next day August 25th (exactly 197 years ago today!) a hurricane showed up and help force the British troops out as well as put out many of the fires still burning! The Hurricane of Providence it was called by some, little attention is given it in teh textbooks but it is one of the most remarkable stories of our nations early days

Oh well my kids are tired of hearing me tell them "interesting" factoids. If any are interested I can post a few name of authors with fascinating and unusual history books. Mostly about the early founding, that's a pet interest for me.
and good night!

I would NOT want to be on a cruise to the Caribbean-indeed in open water anywhere even *remotely* close to a hurricane this time of year. I'm always amazed that people would want to take that risk, but apparently most of the cruise lines have contingency plans on the off chance that things come up.

Yes, i would like to see Marin Campbell make another Bond film.............after having recently watched Goldeneye on TV you realise he certainly had a grasp on what Bond was about. It was a shame that he didnt want to make QOS.......if he had i'am sure the film would of been considerably better, even if the script he was given wasnt upto CR. The film certainly would of been more watchable....ie no fast edits, no wobbly cam etc.bjmdds wrote:"At least Captain's fortunes are brighter than those of fellow comic book adaptation Green Lantern, which grossed $11.9 million to bring its disappointing foreign total to $79.1 million. I dont know if EON would hire a typical Bond director at the moment, as they seem to be picking these arty type guys at the moment.
Yeah the 'Green Lantern' was a total non entity outside of the US. I've never ever heard anyone mention that film here in the UK.
Bad choice of film from MC to pick to direct....particularly as lead role was a 'billy no mates'.

Except it isn't EON doing all of this, Craig is the driving force behind it. Nobody would have looked at Marc Forster twice if Craig wasn't so set on getting him as a director. Craig's idea of Bond is what is driving the series right now the wonder twins only job seem to be to agree with him and praise his ideas.English Agent wrote:

Craig's idea of Bond is ""he is man you love to hate", his early descriptions of Connery seem to indicate he thought Bond was a bad guy over all, who at times did cool things.
Does he look like he gives a d**n? Tossing he best mate in the rubbish bin to save on funeral experiences. Craig looks bad in suit and acts like a low life with a chip on his shoulder trying to fit in with polite society by acting snooty/snobby getting it completely wrong!
These are Craig's ideas not Babs. not Mikey's, and certainly not Ian Fleming's. Criag thought the Book CR was on so-so, and the movie was just OK, he promised to make improvement to it and QOS is the essence of what he thought need to be done. He was furious the critics trashed it because he thought it was a decent piece of work to be proud of. Soon after he went on the hunt for someone he thought he could work on his vision of Bond with, thus another prestige crony Mendes was brought on board despite lacking the necessary pedigree to make a decent action/Bond movie. Mendes career is flailing he desperately needed something big to get up over this slump, probably the only reason he held on so long though all of the uncertainty is he need this in the worse way. That and nobody was lining up at outside his door.
Craig input is the biggest problem EON/Bond has at the moment it used to be Mikey but at least he could cobble together a decent Bond adventure from time to time.

Yes....i know Craig persuaded Forster to make the movie (though we all know Forster didnt really want to), but the producers still could of said no.Mazer Rackham wrote:Except it isn't EON doing all of this, Craig is the driving force behind it. I wonder if it was his idea to get Mendes on board for Bond 23, seeing since he worked with him on 'Road to Perdition' ?
Anyway, i hope, and think Mendes will step upto the mark for Bond 23!

Mendes is done in Hollywood basically? No work for him? Some paltry resume. Action director?

Pandemonium here. Supermarkets being overrun with shoppers. No flashlights or water left on shelves. 80mph winds expected starting tomorrow afternoon. Trees will fall. Power lines will go down. Through it all, we will perservere and continue the fight to unseat DC as Bond no matter what Eon does to the weather.English Agent wrote:'BJ' i hear there's a Hurricane heading your way....is it true?.........and are you prepared?

Yes.....it could be EON....you did make the mistake of giving away your location on this site.bjmdds wrote:Pandemonium here. Supermarkets being overrun with shoppers. I read on that a.n.other Bond site that DC has stated that he is going to produce a biography in the not to distant future, because he says there is a lot of rubbish written about him, and he wants to straighten things out.
I wonder what rubbish he is referring to?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
All he has to do is read this forum to get the facts as they are, not his delusional view of himself. By the way, who would read DC's book and who would bother to see it as a film? Certainly not MP or Ale or FBF? Maybe Sweeney and Stocks would do both.
