LOS ANGELES, CA (February 2, 2011)- Jonathan Glickman has been named MGM's President, Motion Picture Group, it was announced today by Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum.
Glickman is the current President of Spyglass Entertainment, responsible for the development and production of all Spyglass films. His MGM appointment is effective immediately.
"Jonathan represents the best in the business. We recognized his talent, taste and acumen when we first hired him 12 years ago at Spyglass and can't wait to continue the journey with him here at MGM," said Barber and Birnbaum.
"Between MGM's storied history, the promise of the new leadership team and the chance to continue working directly with Gary and Roger, I can't wait to get started," said Glickman.
Glickman’s role at MGM will include the oversight of development and production for all feature films, as well as helping to identify co-financing opportunities with other studios. He will report to Barber and Birnbaum, and will begin forming the motion picture group immediately.
Jonathan Glickman joined Spyglass Entertainment as President of Production in 1998. In 2003, he was promoted to President of the company. At Spyglass, along with Barber and Birnbaum, he produced such worldwide hits as "Four Christmases", "27 Dresses", "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", "The Pacifier", "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Shanghai Noon". His duties at Spyglass also included the acquisition of co-finance opportunities, such as recent international hits “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” “Star Trek,” and “Get Him to the Greek.” Most recently, Glickman served as executive producer on the Paramount/Spyglass co-financed film, “No Strings Attached" and he is currently producing the romance “The Vow," starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum.
Glickman started his career in 1993 as an intern at Birnbaum’s Caravan Pictures rising to President of the company in 1997. While there, he brought in such projects as “While You Were Sleeping" and executive produced “Grosse Pointe Blank” and “Inspector Gadget.” In 1998, he and Birnbaum produced the global smash hit “Rush Hour,” as well as the franchise’s sequels.
