Author Ian Fleming chose Chelsea as the location for Bond's home in his novels. Could this be the house he had in mind?

Ian Fleming was rather vague about where his suave protagnist chose to lay his head on the rare occasions that he was in town. All we know from the novels is that James Bond calls a Regency house in a tree-lined square off Kings Road his home.

While the exact location has never been given, enthusiasts have held that Bond's house was probably in Wellington Square, SW3. If this is the case, it wouldn't be disimilar to the town house that Knight Frank are launching on the market this week.

Was Bond's flat worth the same value (inflation adjusted) back in MR, which I remember contained details of his expenses, outgoings, etc.

Or has prices just rocketed beyond all recognition, so in today's market Bond could only afford a crappy masionette above a kebab shop in Elephant & Castle???

He had a housekeeper as well. The lovely Scottish lady who would not close down 007s house in Golden Gun.

As for slow news day, it has been a slow news couple of months. We get few snippets here and there but not a lot of stories with real meat. This is more or less a advert for the flat. I also posted a 'Book story' which was essentially an auction listing of Fleming related books I covet.

That is how former owner and novelist Ian Fleming, 007’s creator, summed the effect his luxury island residence had on his life. Perhaps owning a piece of Fleming's digs could bring out the inner-novelist in you as well.

The Goldeneye in Jamaica has been a pit stop of A-list bohemians of all-walks since 1977. That’s when Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records, bought and transformed Fleming’s 52-acre manor into a five-villa luxury-boutique hotel with lagoons, secluded beaches, and tropical forests galore.

Goldeneye is adding 18 villas to the lush landscape the property. Along with Mother Nature’s lush gifts, amenities include a 6,000 square-foot spa, two restaurants and a deli, an elaborate water-sports center, and lit tennis courts. Concierge, housekeeping, chefs, and nanny services will be available. One-and two-bedroom villas of 1,100 to 1,700 square feet are offered from $900,000 to $1.2 million.

Ahhh: Spa will include five oceanfront treatment rooms; Hamman, sauna and yoga decks, too...also known as Ian Fleming’s Goldeneye Estate.
