I was being rhetorical. It was never meant to to be for Clive as regards Bond. Everytime I watch him (which is often as he seems to make 10 movies a year) I always think that he would have been a great Bond.

I've never got the appeal myself. He has a good Bond look, but I've always found his voice monotonous and a bit too Estuary-accented for Bond (I have the same complaint about Craig, even though he's from Cheshire - in fact I can trace the exact moment I went sour on him to his delivery of the line "Holster the bloody weapon, Carter, we need him alive" in CR).

I never thought he was appropriate for the role. Shows how much I know really. If a plumbers assistant is too splendid for the role Clive would have been fine.
