would an animated Bond work?
over the weekend I had an idea about a Bond animated series. what if they were to make the novels into animated movies, done in an extremely stylized way? like Batman the animated series was done, only more adult oriented, and sticking closer to the books than the live action films. does anybody else think this would be a good idea? you wouldn't have to worry about the actor getting too old, or not looking enough like what Bond is supposed to look like.

this isn't what I mean. I remember the short lived James Bond Jr. show, but that was for kids to sell a toy line. What I'm talking about is something more along the lines of the Hellboy animated movies, or the Ultimate Avengers. direct to dvd movies with an older audience in mind. something without a toy company, or a tv network's standards and practices saying no.stockslivevan wrote:That was already done... sorta.

You and I both know that, hence the "sorta" remark.paco chaos wrote:this isn't what I mean. I remember the short lived James Bond Jr. show, but that was for kids to sell a toy line. Besides that, I have to say I love the Batman Mask of the Phantasm movie. I loved how with film they didn't have those saturday morning TV restrictions and we were given a Film-Noir type animated feature Batman film with a storyline more appealing to adults than children. I don't think kids are too interested in tragic love stories.
I wish audiences could one day ditch the belief that cartoons are only for kids, esspecially Americans. There are artists out there who want to express themselves and sometimes live action just doesn't cut it but they are restricted to that because there is no way executives could believe an adult animated film could sell. I'm glad Bruce Timm was given the opportunity to make a Batman animated film with creative control and take advantage of it, giving us probably THE best Batman film of all time.

An animated Bond could work. I've been impressed with recent "Cartoons", plenty japanimations of a adult nature. Good stories too from what I remember. Obviously I would want Bond the animated to be of the highest quality
It wouldnt be cheap but could be magnificent.
Batman Beyond had great stories, great continuation of the Dark Night saga.
Second paco chaos' avatar as the Bond Image!

Smashing idea! 007 has been an illustrated longer than the movies have been around.

Incidentally George Lazenby did a couple of voices for Batman of the Future.

I don't know why EON couldn't produce an animated Bond series. and yeah, I'd rather have Daniel Craig play Bond in an animated series, since I wouldn't have to look at him.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote:It's a shame that Eon have such a grip over Bond.
They could make a Thunderbirds/Team America style Bond film. Daniel Craig could even play James bond.

well, if you feel that way about it, we could have Brosnan, Lazenby, or Connery do the voice instead. I'm just saying, you could have any Bond actor in the role, since age and looks aren't a factor.Captain Nash wrote:Going so well and and then the old faithful has to be brought in.
Paco, we get it.
Yes, Connery lent his voice to Bond in the FRWL video game a few years back, though I'm not sure whether this was newly-recorded dialogue or just sampled from the film soundtrack. I suppose you could argue that in the form of the video games, we sort of have an animated Bond already (though as I've stated before, I haven't actually played any of them, I'm just going by what I've read elsewhere).paco chaos wrote:well, if you feel that way about it, we could have Brosnan, Lazenby, or Connery do the voice instead.
