The amazing technology that helped make the movie sales juggernaut "Avatar" what it is today could have some extremely interesting applications.
According to an article in Entertainment Weekly James Cameron said the photo-realistic CGI used in "Avatar" could easily be used for other equally amazing projects.
"How about another 'Dirty Harry' movie where Clint looks the way he looked in 1975?" Cameron said."Or a James Bond
movie where Sean Connery looks the way he did in 'Doctor No?' How cool would that be?"
The precise nature of the technology that gets right down to an actor's pores allows for virtually any manipulation you could imagine. There are limits though, Cameron said.
"There's no way to scan what's underneath the surface to what an actor is feeling," he said.
But the technology would theoretically allow for actors to appear in movies after they have died, almost like how Hendrix is still releasing vaulted material.
"If Tom Cruise left instructions for his estate that it was okay to use his likeness in 'Mission Impossible' movies for the next 500 years, I would say that would be fine," Cameron said. "You could put Marilyn Monroe
and Humphrey Bogart in a movie together, but it wouldn't be them. You'd have to have somebody play them. And that's where I think you cross an ethical boundary."
Favorite Bond Movie: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The November Man or any upcoming actioners starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good since it will help him expand his reputation as an actor especially in the action realm)

They used something like this to make Captain Picard and Magneto look younger in a flashback scene in X-Men 3. All this CGI is getting out of hand now I feel. I think the days of models, puppets and matte paintings had a lot more charm. A lot of these CGI infested films will look terribly dated in decades to come whereas Raiders or Gone with the Wind will still look great.

The later Star Wars movies were almost cartoons!!!

I don't think this is ready for real movies yet but Eon needs to get on acquiring the rights to use Connery and the other Bonds digital likeness for new movies. In the next 10 years it could become a real possibility.
“Your that secret agent! That English secret agent from England!"
I do no think Sean Connery, George Lazenby, or Pierce Brosnan would ever allow EON carte blanche to their image. So we should be thankfully spared the Jar-Jar Binks treatment of our favourite Bonds.
"Those were the days when we still associated Bond with suave, old school actors such as Sean Connery and Roger Moore,"
"Daniel didn't have a hint of suave about him," - Patsy Palmer

The alternative-being stuck with Dorian Gray,I mean Daniel Craig for years isn't much better.

Brosnan certainly wouldn't. I don't think he's on speaking terms now with his former employers.
