Favourite Bond cover artwork

Post by The Sweeney »

My favourite Bond covers were definitely the 60's Pan collection.
My fav cover has to be either OHMSS or TMWTGG (my 2 favourite novels incidentally too...)

I have to agree with the Sweeney: out of all the many Fleming novel covers mine is the On Her Majesty's Secret Service Pan one pictured above.

Have you seen the new book covers?
A few of them are quite decent however I prefer the 60's books covers. If only becasue I grew up with them around.

The Pan covers are preferable to the ones with women on the cover, IMO.

That's a first edition if I'm not mistaken Kris?
Be worth something nowadays, especially if it's still got the dust jacket.
It's also one of my favourite Bond novels, and cover artworks.

I believe so. It says "Eighth Impression" on the indicia page. Knowing bugger all about book collecting, I don't know if that makes it worth less than the first impression. It also says that a limited edition of 250 copies signed by the author was produced. I bet those would be worth a packet.

Unfortunately, the book is my dad's, so if anyone profits from selling it, it'll be him, not me.

I have a mixture of editions - most of them falling to bits!!!

I have the Dr No edition wiht the black and red cover. I'm not sure if the red bit is supposed to be a watch or a light, and I'm not sure if I like it.

Here is a pic - my Dr No book is top right.

The website I found the pic on is worth a visit too:

My parents had a bunch of first generation Bond boos. Most of them are in bad shape though.

My dad used to take them to work and read them during his lunch break 8)

I do like this Pan Colonel sun cover. The Bond in the reflection is similar to the classic cinemati image: he is wearing a white tuxendo and has black hair.

I always thought he looked like Connery in the reflection.

What do you make of the new paperback book covers?

I always like this one for some reason. Maybe it captured the feel Ian gave Casino Royale.
