A few of the Connery ones, but I cannot remember which. I was a kid back then, but I remember seeing the posters outside the cinema, and pestering my dad to go......(sadly we didn't).bjmdds wrote:Of which films? The Sweeney wrote:I doubt IMDB is that accurate. That's not the only problem. Jimyjazz's dates are all off.The Sweeney wrote:I doubt IMDB is that accurate. How are they "all off"? He watched them on special showings. Last year a local theater showed all 21 Bond films. Heck go to LA and you'll find theaters showing old films.
Re: Face it chaps. You will feel better.
I don't believe for a minute that Jimmyjazz saw YOLT at the movie theater. I don't believe he's as old as he is (in fact he's much younger..maybe 20's or early 30's). Sorry to go all girl detective but his story is made up.

Unbelieveable!
Why, because he likes Daniel Craig? Would you be calling him a liar if he hated Daniel Craig?
BTW, while we are on the subject, what do you think of QoS now? (Watches Katied quickly disappear from thread....)

I don't get how he could be lying simply because he stated he saw YOLT in the 70s. It's not like special screenings didn't exist back then.
Re: Face it chaps. You will feel better.
Sorry but I call bullsh!t on everything Jimmyjazz has said. *smug*
It's not just about Daniel Craig, it's about being a fanboy who claims to be in his 40's when he's really 25. *I* saw through him so fast it's not even funny.I could really care less about what Bond films he likes and dislikes or which Bonds he likes(and dislikes). But claiming stuff that even I know is made up? c'mon.

Forget it stocks. This kind of behaviour towards a new member who has a differing opinion shows that this forum has the same level of tolerance that MI6 supposedly has - something which members here are constantly criticizing, yet double-standards are starting to rear their ugly head now on here.stockslivevan wrote:I don't get how he could be lying simply because he stated he saw YOLT in the 70s. If there was ever a showing of Bond films in Jimmyjazz' hometown I seriously doubt he went to it. His parents, *maybe*.....But not Jimmyjazz himself.

Old films have special showings at individual cinemas all the time, even today, so I think watching You Only Live Twice in the seventies is believable.

Why do members suddenly turn up here and say: "you are wrong about Daniel Craig, he is brilliant , listen to me". Am I supposed to change my opinion of Daniel Craig's suitabliity as Bond because someone says that? Have you changed your opinion on Die Another Day recently? The Sweeney wrote:
As for getting the members here to change their opinions on Craig - forget it. They will still be here saying the same old things when Craig has made another 2 Bond films. They will NEVER change their opinion on him, its as simple as that.

Bring back Bond!

I'll never change my opinion on DAD, the same way I wouldn't expect any of you (barring one particular individual) to change your opinion on DC.carl stromberg wrote:Old films have special showings at individual cinemas all the time, even today, so I think watching You Only Live Twice in the seventies is believable.

Exactly. And that, among other things,is what makes Jimmyjazz a bit suspect. Why do members suddenly turn up here and say: "you are wrong about Daniel Craig, he is brilliant , listen to me". Re: Face it chaps. You will feel better.
Hello again. And first can I say thank you to The Sweeney for defending my position on seeing the Bond back to back screening in mid 70's. And all you others. My poor mother (in her mid 70's herself) is trailing to town sometime this week to go through 70's issues of the local paper, The Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, to see if she can track down the newspaper ad. (Yes I've become that sad!). Of course you won't trust that with photoshop claims no doubt coming my way. I would check myself but I live in Oxford now so I'm miles away. I would however like to track the advert down myself, make a nice little project.
By the way Katied. I wish I was the age you think I am!! 44 I'm afraid, married with 2 kids and a mortgage. You might be right on the fat front, (where did that belly come from?). Not the Bond life I thought I was gonna have. A college lecturer and a fine upstanding citizen. Why would I lie about such matters?
Also you might want to check out the Bond double bills that were screened in the late 60's. Now I obviously didn't see them but it shows that the films were shown after their original release.
Oh and those insults were a bit strong. I now understand why you crave for an English gent to play Bond.....to teach manners to our American 'friends'.
